Toshiba is planning to invest $224million developing a new plant in Japan to manufacture the latest electric bike batteries. The new Super Charge Ion battery is said to recharge in 30 minutes as opposed to a typical charge time of 4 hours. Schwinn is already using the new battery in its Tailwind electric bike. The EN 15194 standard for ‘Electronically Power Assisted Cycles’ (EPAC) will be officially announced by the National Standards Boards (NSB’s) of 30 countries on the 30th April.
