BikeEurope reports that Europe's best-selling electric bike, the Sparta has already sold out this year until September. Holland is leading the way and is again expected to see double-digit growth in the sales of electric bikes. It has been estimated that Sparta have shifted 75,000 ION's already this year. More here

» 50Cycles launch the Kalkhoff Pro Connect PedelecPublished 01/16/2008
Hot on the heels of the Agattu electric bike from Kalkhoff, 50Cycles have introduced another model to the range, the Pro Connect. This time also available in Ladies/Gents frame in various sizes. Motor comes in the form of a 250W Panasonic unit with a total bike weight of 20.8kg including battery. First deliveries are expected in February with a 15% discount on the launch price. More here.

A total of 20 electric bikes are now on test with ExtraEnergy although you'll have to hold on until March to see the initial findings with the full results appearing in June. Wai Won, head of eZeebike updates us with the details of the second leg of his sik route tour across China completing another 1125km on eZee Torq Trekking electric bikes.
Despite the soaking we all received in 2007, the Tour de Presteigne is back this year bigger and better than ever. This year's event will take place over two days - Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May culminating in the now legendary electric bike rally.
Wai Wong Ching, the owner of eZee Bikes has taken time out to ride the new Torq Trekking electric bikes on a 1000km ride across China. Both the 250W and 350W versions were used on the ride.
Battery meters is the subject of the second in a series of technical articles discussing the difficulties in obtaining a reliable indicator of the amount of charge left on a battery while the bike is in operation.
