DiamondBack Ranger debuts in UK

DiamondBack have introduced three new full-suspension electric mountain bikes; the e-MTBs are amongst the first to utilise the latest Shimano Steps E8000 drive system.

Topping the range at £4,250 is the Ranger 3.0 which comes with electric Shimano Di2 gearing. If your budget doesn’t stretch that far, Ranger 2.0 and 1.0 models come in at £3,900 and £3,650 respectively.

DiamondBack say: “This premium end set-up brings serious off-road credentials, with more torque and a gear range suited to steep terrain. The E8000 is more compact than most motors on the market meaning that the Ranger has a shorter chainstay making the bike handling tighter in the twists and turns. It’s also slimmer than other motors, with the cranks closer together making this out and out eMTB feel more like an MTB.”

DiamondBack’s UK brand manager, Jason Boness, also commented: “This is the first eMTB I’ve ridden with the new Shimano E8000 STEPS eMTB drive system, which delivers a maximum 70nm of torque, in eMTB terms this is supercar power. The level-link suspension made even the roughest ride feel plush and the lightning fast changes delivered by the Shimano Di2 are a joy to behold: instantaneous powerful gear shifts every time.”
