One needs to be an expert in e-bikes (to understand the Forum) and have a memory like an elephant.
The postings on the Forum, after merely, what, 8 or 9 months has gone exponential. Fine if you know what you are looking for and where to look. Trouble is that posters get "off subject". Enter into the "Search" box the magic word calculated to locate what you are looking for and you get a reference to about half the total postings in the Forum both on and off subject.
Please, don't think I am complaining about the Forum's format: I find the humour invigorating and the banter funny.
I saw the most recent posting on the subject of (forgive me if I get this slightly wrong, but if I go back to look I will lose this work) "Recharging MP3 Players from the e-bike". There was a small element of connection to e-bikes I suppose, but then the two contributors found they had something in common: their somewhat rare MP3 players. Found a new soul mate.

Then there was the thread about the "Gearing on Torq's" that really went haywire when an interesting distraction sent the thread completely "off topic". Don't get me wrong. It's lovely to have these asides BUT it does make it difficult to remember where that something is that has suddenly become important to the reader but was only 'interesting' when he first read it.

Then, there's the 'senior effect'... what did you say about geriatrics, Slimtim?
Pistols or Swords Slimtim?

Peter

(In a sense, joules (energy) makes more sense than watts (power), since the latter is the rate of energy change, while energy is a more basic unit .)

A bit technical, but useful & very concise? What do you think? Tongue in cheek enough?

...Could use miles instead, but that might be a bit ordinary...
Ok then, how about "ebike-miles" or "pedelec-miles" (as opposed to "air-miles")? Too plain?

If the name debate is resolved, could just use that appended to -miles .

Stuart.

I see the thread star rating system is already being abused. The thread on "have you heard of Sustain Cycles" with little in it jumped to five stars around when Sustain posted in there!

I promptly added a balancing negative vote, it sits at three stars now, but that is an over rating for what's probably a minimal interest item.

Default I am important and knowledgable (?)

I have achieved 'member' status on the basis of nearly buying a bike and asking a few questions. I still think I should be a 'gadfly'. Love you all!

I think that anyone reading the whole 'sustain' thread will get a balanced view...

I noticed that too flecc, not the first time either...

The ratings would become more "fair" with more "true" votes, but its an unwelcome trend and such abuse may misrepresent threads' interest to newcomers, who may find it "over-rated" & wonder what the interest is.

I also add rebalancing negative votes to similar threads for the same reason: I don't really like to, but I'm negating possible abuse of member privileges for business interests rather than any constructive purpose.

Slimtim: I think I'm a gadfly on the G-scale too .

Stuart.
