adlington lancashire, at the foot of winter hill near rivington pike where the 2002 commonwealth road and mountain bike events were held and also home to a famous fell dash...

that's great. not far from rivington tea rooms - cyclists very welcome - and a pianist on some sundays...
BBC - Lancashire - Radio Lancashire - Sunday Stroll in Rivington
it's not so bad up north
