That's a good point John, so maybe even the bike make agency shouldn't be entered, just the bare bones as a repairer directory. I'd be happy with that.
Mind you, I originally suggested a separate map for that when bode asked for a dealer directory, but others felt the same map was ok for members and dealers.

I've noticed dealers put in by others have no address or details at all, users left to find details locally.
We'll see what others think as well, but it's worth bearing in mind that makes with chains of dealers frequently have detailed dealer directory pages, e.g. Giant and Powacycle.

I dont disagree at all, I just didnt want to mislead any Coventry peeps who eventually pop up to keep me company on the map its very lonely in the midlands

Hi John & Flecc,
I think, given his central role in the whole concept, if John is unhappy then we shouldn't include dealers at all.
My own view is that a list of those who are willing to work on e-bikes would be a useful resource that does not exist in any form at the moment. As Flecc noted, I left no details at all on the shops I added. My thought was simply to indicate their existence and leave it up to the viewer to research further.
Flecc seems happy with that, as am I. John, I think you should rightly have a veto and I would fully understand and respect your decision if you use it.

I absolutely agree that John should have the right to veto and I would also respect and understand that.
If that happens, possibly Russ would be happy to have a separate map for repairers.

What I would suggest is a seperate map of dealers, traders and e-bike friendly cycle shops recommended by members, with perhaps a star rating. That last bit might be a bit controversial.
Pedelec already has an under used directory for the trade here http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/categories/Dealer-Search/
A comprehensive list of manufacturers can be found at AtoB Electric Bicycle & Tricycle Prices
Perhaps these traders could be on an "e-bike Trade Map"? But should they pay for an entry as is the case with Yellow Pages, or should it be free?
Russ, please respond.
The original members map was my suggestion, but Django's expertise got it up and running, he along with other collaborators have done all the work.

If it is under my name and on my Google account it really needs to be free.

OK, there is another map set up now ready to be used.
See here
If this looks like a way forward, previous messages need to be updated with the new URL. I will leave it open for anyone to edit in the first instance as we did with the Members' Map, with a view perhaps to restricting that in due course.
I would suggest a simple list rather than reviews, though I am obviously open to persuasion.
Any thoughts?

I'm definitely against any recommendations since as others have pointed out, one persons experience isn't always repeatable. Just a simple listing of dealers prepared to repair e-bikes with just the addition of any restriction they impose on that activity, e.g. Panasonic unit only.
I know Russ does not want to get into an area where disputes can arise on dealer quality, since it could lead back to the old consumer complaint situation again.
For the same reason, editing restrictions are necessary, since any aggrieved person could attack the map or at least remove an entry if they didn't like the dealer.
Thanks for the map Django. I'll alter the links above, and in due course enter the dealers I entered before once everyone is OK with this.

Ok, guys, here's one I would recommend if I were allowed:
St John Street Cycles
91/93 St John Street, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 5HX
St John Street Cycles Main Page
01278 441500
sales@sjscycles.com
Comprehensive mail order and internet supplier of components. Not an ebike company, but will build and repair ebike wheels.
Make appointment before visiting
