Hello maryinoxford, welcome to the forum. The Urban Mover and Powacycle bikes do seem to be gaining ground, both very recently introduced, and another forum member has very recently bought an Urban Mover. As you say, the Heinzmann's are good, but they are heavy lumps by today's lighter hub standards.
The Urban Mover should be easier to get up the stairs, but maybe a Stannah stair lift fitted with a car boot rack for the bike would be easier!

Hi All
I'm Carl and I work for PowaCycle.
I know nearly everything about bikes, but still learning about the more in-depth side of electric bikes!
Good to see our bikes being recommended by some of you on here and that our batteries are being butchered for other bikes

Hello Carl, welcome to the forum, and we look forward to your contributions, particularly any help that might be needed on Powacycle bikes in the future.
A special thanks also for the very reasonably priced batteries which have enabled me to develop the "butchery" to overcome the battery pricing policies of some others. Long may you trade in such a customer beneficial way.

I'll keep you updated with all that I can

Hi
Just registered, great to see a Forum dedicated to electric bikes - very interesting and very welcome.
Bought my first electric a few months ago, to save using my car for commuting quite so much. Try to use the bike on any day when I don't need the car for business. My commute is around 13 miles or so round trip, along the Sussex coast from Worthing - fairly flat, and a chunk of it along the coastal cycle path. The part that runs through Lancing has been re-surfaced very recently - a much smoother ride now!
My bike's a Swizzbee. Went for that as it was one of the very few I could find that had the facility to vary the power input up and down from default. And of course, it ain't slow... Added attraction for me was that you HAVE to pedal it, and therefore it contributes to my fitness whether I like it or not! The bike is a beaut, and I'm enoying riding it.
Cheers
Simon

Welcome to the forum Simon, and thanks for that information, I hadn't realised the Swizzbee was a pedelec bike before. I'd assumed that as a performance bike it would be throttle only, but I suppose they adopted pedelec to suit the rest of Europe.
Still think we're lucky in the UK to have the choice of pedelec, throttle, or both!

Flecc - thanks for the welcome note.
When I get a mo', I'll try to pen a review of the Swizzbee. I'm no bike expert, but I've covered a few hundred miles on it now, and would be happy to share my experience so far.
Thanks again for a totally useful site.
Simon

The thanks are really due to Russ who created this site, but is busy on it's development at present. I just help him in it's growth and fill in to welcome new members when he's not present, plus some technical support.

Hi Simon and welcome,
glad you are finding the site useful! I'm sure we are all very keen to hear more about your Swizzbee and to see some photos . If you would like to write a review then we now have a section on the main site for them see here.
I hope this site will become the definitive resource for folks buying and maintaining electric bikes. As you'll see, Flecc has written some excellent articles on the main site (and more on his own site) as well as being instrumental in helping get this forum up and running! Maybe we should call him Flecc-ipedia
cheers
Russ
