Hello Jon, welcome to the forum, I hope you continue to find it useful. Let us know your experiences with "Agatha".
I must confess I also had trouble with the name, and there are past postings in here by me mentioning Agutta, Agatta, Aguttu etc. Typing the review was a good way of ramming home the right name.
There's more on this name including the origin in this thread here.

Hi,
just joined this forum as i am looking to buy a bike, I live in West Yorkshire which is quite hilly and looking to commute a 8 mile round trip, I have no experience of electric bikes so any advice would be great.
Thanks

Hello Bamo, welcome to the forum. If you look back over the last few pages of this introduction section, you'll see a number of recommendations of bikes for various circumstances. There are further posts in the main forum on the recent pages on exactly this as well.
Unless you are a very powerful rider, for a hilly area you need either a quite powerful hub motor bike, or one of those which drives through the bike's gears via it's chain.
The postings I've mentioned will give plenty of information on those choices, but don't hesitate to enter a post in the main forum for any further information or clarification needed.

qeeeme
I live in germany, i am 40 years old, i drive 25 km back and forth with bicycle or with bus + train. but the busses are not so many and with bicycle i am more flexible. i like the aspect of sport doing with the bicycle but sometime it is just too much. i look for a pedelec to sometime do the trip with the pedelec. pedelec are more expensive than bikes so i dont know where to begin and to invest. so far, i still do the trip with bicycle or bus/train. i am glad to have found your forum because many knowledge is inside. here in germany i found no pedelec forum. only at velomobilforum.de which is a forum for hpv vehicles but they have one section in the forum "electrical assistance" whith some informations about pedelecs.
so thank you already for the forum

Hello qeeeme, welcome to the forum, where we have been appreciating the introduction of the German Kalkhoff bikes with the Panasonic motor unit. It's good to have German quality design and build available after so much that falls short of best from the Orient.
I've answered your question on the Panasonic unit in the main forum.

Hello
This is my first my first post on the forum. I am already a keen cyclist and use my bike as my main mode of transport (I don't own a car). I live in a fairly hilly area and am considering one of the Kalkhoff bikes for shopping, or when I am feeling a bit lazy!.
At the grand age of 32 I am probably not your average ebiker, but they are still bikes right?.

Welcome Martin, as you'll know from my previous answer, the Kalkhoff is most definitely a bike. The one disappointment of the Panasonic system to a keen bike rider is the arrangement that power is delivered at lower cadences that sport riders like to use, and that can feel unusual at first.
Fine for when feeling lazy though, since a slow cadence amble seems ok then.

Flecc
I don't tend to use a high cadence, more like stay in the saddle and use more power. More of a Jan Ullrich than a Lance Armstrong (I wish!).

I know what you mean Martin, and it that's fine as long as it's not slow enough to cause later knee problems. It certainly doesn't seem to have hurt Jan, though with the huge amount of fat he always put on between tours, his knees are probably accustomed to being under pressure!
