Hi, I'm John and I found this place on my searches of the web. I am looking for info and direction on either aquiring or converting to a small wheel electric bicycle. Ideally 16" wheels, and also converting my/our 20" wheel tandem to electric.

I have this idea that throttle alone option is essential, but may be that is erroneous. I just like the idea of being able to just stop pedalling for stretches of time. That is if I understand the whole system correctly.

Input very welcome. Thanks.

Hello - I have just taken delivery of a GNG 36v Gen 2 kit. Previously I have only installed a heinzmann kit - not many wires just a few connectors to plug in.

The GNG has a few more wires. I'm at step 1 which is changing the connectors to bench test the motor with my 36v battery. I am using neutrik 4 pole connectors but getting no activity so far.

There are wires labelled as key lock with switch + as well as PAS and Brake.

I was hoping I could just ignore these and just connect the 2 wires from the battery straight to the control.

The battery is charged and throttle connected.

Any advice much appreciated.

Hello to everyone.
I found this forum whilst online researching electric bicycle kits and hope to be able to exchange useful information here.
I'm a long time Mountain Biker used to repairing and maintaining my own bikes and now due to a 66 year old dodgy knee I've decided I definitely need a little help on some of the steeper hills I'm still foolish enough to attempt!
My home is 30 miles south of Inverness in the Cairngorms National Park where we have some wonderful off road routes and I would like to carry on riding them for a few more years.
I haven't yet made a final decision as to which kit is best for me so I'll post again soon with my ideas as to what I think I might need in the hopes of getting some much needed advice.
Dave.

Hi to all
New member ,new to cycling with a dodgy knee
Just bought a 906xc tourer which am informed is a limited edition with a test and proving history for whispers early days
Would love to hear about people's memories of any events linked to this model and history
Anyone advise of starting point for the continental fighter 2 tyres air pressure as I,m working on the squeeze principle at present and I,m sure there must be a standard for a 90kg rider
Look forward to hearing from you all and exchanging a few views etc

Electric Cargo Bike Owner

Hi thanks for having me as a member, I own an electric cargo trike (the ones with the kids seats up the front) which I imported from China. I am very pleased with it ans so is my family. One of my friends also wants one so I have ordered one for him, but I am shippign it air freight rather than having to wait 12 weeks to get it by sea. The issue with air freight is that they wont ship a lithium battery over a certain size without 'hazmat' cert. Of course the chinese wont spend any money on certifcation if they dont have to so mine naturally has no certification.

So I am going to have to give him my battery to go with his batteryless bike when it arrives.

My question then is in general how do these lithiums work compared to a conventional lead acid battery bank? My particular unit has a 36V 10Ah Lithium battery which has 4 spade like sockets built into its slide in frame. It then has a charger connector like an old RF TV antenna connector. Why 4 pins not 2 for +Ve and -Ve? what role does a BMS have and is this typically part of the battery or part of the docking frame on the bike?

If I were to purchase locally a 36V 10Ah lithium battery what should I be considering before purchase?

Lots of questions I know for an introduction so please feel free to move this post to the relevant tech forum or advise which?

I work for Ampair a DC wind turbine manufacturer so I am failry cluey with lead acid charge /discharge/ regulation and SOC etc but am fairly clueless with these Lithium units and how the whole setup works, any advice much appreciated!

Thanks

Jeremy

Hi ya All,

I'm from Finland, close to Helsinki. I've been riding bike but I just ordered my 1st pedelec and I should have it shortly. I hope to replace most my car use with it. My commute is 12.5 km.

The selection process was pretty long, and this is one of the sites I visited time and again for reading and finding information about the bikes. The cold spring did not help any since I could not test ride them until the snow had gone. Some of them really really made me smile big time.

I decided to start a blog about my experiences with the pedelec. Please drop by at
Easy Ride

Cheers,

Hello.
I am reading all the blogs and comments about electric bike kits and not really finding any real best buys, only buyer bewear and spend thousands if you want to be satisfied.
I was gifted a unisex bike (a French bike called Decathlon) and having had it for several months. Decided to put a kit on it. I chose the 8Fun bike kit and can only say I am actually blown away by the performance and quality of the kit,
I did have some troublle with connections etc but recieved good feed back from 8Fun bike and am now up and running. Have been on half dozen trips now 3 of which were over 20 miles and all got me home with pedal asist, and I live in west Wiltshire which is very hilly
Complete kit and battery. £430 not bad considering some of the bikes on the market.
I have no connection with this company and am not advertising their products
Any comments?
