Pendleton Somerby E-Bike: Damaged rear wheel - wear and tear

Well, there's lots of support from members to have a go at building your own wheel, a notion that I fully endorse for all of the reasons given - just go for it! There are so many on-line resources (and free at that) to help the new builder, but personally I like to refer to my paper printout...

Pendleton Somerby E-Bike: Damaged rear wheel - wear and tear

It is quite normal for rim brakes to wear wheel rims down although if you've only done 5,000 miles ish, then this is a bit on the low side of normal. Having said that if you've done a lot of braking in dirty/gritty conditions and especially if the brake blocks have ended up with metal framents...

    TSDZ2B Bits and Pieces

Hi @az - I had to remove a bit of frame on a brand new bike that I converted for a friend (as per your red bike in post #22). IMHO there was absolutely NO detriment to frame integrity and that conversion was a couple of years ago and no problems since. Mind you, I didn't tell the friend what I...

Woosh starts shipping Tongsheng TSDZ8 with 250W label

Hi @Woosh - back in your first post in this thread you said - - why is the anti-torque hanger no longer need (that's really good new BTW) - is the 'triangular' retaining clamp more serrated than the one for the TSDZ2? And can you tell me what is the gap between the crank axle housing and the...

    TSDZ2B Bits and Pieces

Without fitting the grooved 'vee' bracket in yr pic 2, the motor would rotate in the bottom bracket shell, or at least it would in 'normal' bikes. You say "..... not in my case" - why is that then? Pic courtesy of @Woosh TSDZ2 installation manual.

    What's the answer?

I think what @peterjd is getting at is the pleasure that a light weight non e-assisted bike rides like compared to the more heavier e-bike machines. That's very much a subjective rider assessment of course and those with high powered e-bikes who use little of their own leg power won't...

"Brompton weighs in on better battery laws to clamp down on eBike fires "

Tony, I'm not looking to agree or disagree with the main thrust of your post, but I'm guessing you'd prefer to be correct in what you say so I hope you take my correction in the spirit intended? Part 'P' of the building regulations does allow some 'DIY' electrical work, e.g. Best wishes.

    Folding bikes

..... as in the Brompton is not there yet? A few years ago we (wife and self) contemplated buying two Bromptons and flying off to NZ for a drive/cycle/walking holiday. I borrowed a friend's Brompton to try one out and really could not adjust to the ride, so that was the end of that idea...

TSDZ2 with OSF in Cadence Mode

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated. The above is the method I use too and as you say the 'Wh' re-charge figure is going to be higher than the actual 'Wh' discharge, but by how much I can't tell as I've no calibrated instrumentation to do any comparisons with, but the method used is...

TSDZ2 with OSF in Cadence Mode

An interesting setup (cadence mode) to consider for those wanting that sort of assist which is more akin to those choosing a Bafang mid drive. Out of interest, what is your setup for measuring watt hours per mile? 6.2 Wh/mile is a really low level of power consumption - I'm guessing the all up...

    Zone 2 Training and Pedelecs

That Zone 2 article was interesting and as a Torque Sesnsing mid drive rider, I'll not feel guilty about my 30 mile ride tomorrow (to my fave cafe for coffee and cake) in ECO mode - lol!

    Wrist Mirrors

I've never looked at wrist mirrors before this post - first thoughts are: Puttint them on before ride detracts somewhat from the spontainity of just jumping on your bike for a ride not great for wrist watch wears if riding on straights (Pic A), then your hands are going to be near enough...

Experiences with Open Source Firmware on the Tongsheng TSDZ2

A couple of notes for those looking to use OSF for the first time: EDIT: an update on older versions of SDCC below > I've just got a Win11 laptop and wanted to be able to program my TSDZ2 which until now I've been doing using my Win10 laptop. > I revisted the Github page (by Embrusa - link) to...

    Noob to ebikes

Welcome to the forum. I see you're asked about conversion kits in another post - cross posting the same question will annoy some.

    UK suppliers for conversion kits

The UK supplier who gets a lot of mentions on here is Woosh bikes of Southen and PSW Power will deliver to the UK but you won't get the same level of Customer Service as given by Woosh Bikes. Now sit back to hear about the different opinions of front hub versus rear hub & mid drive.
