Geared hub vs Mid drive to the top of Moel Famau and King Georges tower.

Ive akways ran the fatbike hub, even on standard frames. At 45 amps its a cracking drive and will climb like a beast...but that was with a 24x3 tyre, the 26 fatties are much bigger tyres. I suppose you could run a 20 and climb anything.

Its a geared hub..it would be nice if you could buy a 7:1 ratio instead of 5:1, field weakening would get you back to 30mph

Thanks, I'll be back with the crew so I can compare hubs, midrives and standard restricted emtbs.

I bought the frame because it has space to mount the drive behind the bb, it actually sits much further up, but I hadnt tightened it enough and it sarted to work down...needs a bracket really.

I put my BBSHD in a cheap chinese suspension frame, it went hilariously wrong.

Im strengthening the frame where the pivot connects, its actually very weak looking and the bit I expected to snap. Im going to get a friend to knock up an old school swinging arm and put in a proper bearing. I just want to keep it pushbike looking, not emotorbike style.

Bought a bbshd powered fatbike and made a vid of what it can climb in my local dunes.

Momentum is everything of course, most of the dunes it could cold start in say third and make it up without a gear change, this is my first mid drive and I'll have to say overall the geared hub is better, the power is there straight away and you can change gear mid climb. But for complete...
