    Tyre advice please

Thaks for the info Dave, I ran a tape measure and I think that would be pushing my luck. I don't really want to have to re-engineer the mudguards as it's a pretty much brand new bike. I'm gonna go with the Smart Sam 700x40c. Thanks all!

    Tyre advice please

I'd like to go a bit wider than 40 if I can get away with it, partly in the hope of a softer ride. Dave, can I take you upon your offer to measure yours? That would be much appreciated.

    Tyre advice please

Thanks, they look ideal. I will check the clearance as the mudguards are pretty snug, and the rear one carries wiring for the built in lights.

    Tyre advice please

I bought a Raleigh Motus this summer, for leisure cycling on tow paths, etc. Now that winter is here and the paths are muddy, it’s sliding all over the place on the standard CST Zeppelin road tyres. The tyres are 700x40c on 622x19C rims. What are the largest/ widest/ chunkiest tyres that I...

Does anyone think their e-bike is undergeared? Here’s how I fixed my Raleigh Motus Hub-gear.

I recently bought a Raleigh Motus, the GT model with Bosch Active Line Plus motor. It’s my third e-bike after having had a nice Greenedge for 4 years (which will be on eBay soon). I’m only a very occasional leisure cyclist, and the Motus is more comfortable for me than the Greenedge due to its...

Help! Can’t remove Motus hub gear rear wheel due to it fouling on disk caliper.

Thanks to all that replied. The axle flats were not lined up because I had been trying to get the wheel out. And, as Gavin said, there’s nowt scary about removing the caliper. I figured out that two of the bolts are for adjustment sideways, and two others hold the caliper to the frame, so I...

Help! Can’t remove Motus hub gear rear wheel due to it fouling on disk caliper.

I’m hoping that someone can offer advice. I’m trying to remove the rear wheel on my Raleigh Motus, with hub gears. Gear cable off, nuts and washers removed, all good. However, due to the dropouts not being vertical, the brake disk is fouling the caliper when I try to lift off the wheel (bike...

Anyone fitted a bigger chainring on Bosch Active Line Plus with Hubgears?

Thanks again:). What I’m going to do is measure my cadence over the weekend and play with some of the online gear calculators, then hopefully decide whether to go 20/18/16T. I’m not going to be doing high mileages but I don’t want to be over stressing the hub gears or the motor. It’s a brand...

Anyone fitted a bigger chainring on Bosch Active Line Plus with Hubgears?

Interesting, thanks. I’m a little reluctant to do something that extreme to a brand spanking new road bike though:)

Anyone fitted a bigger chainring on Bosch Active Line Plus with Hubgears?

That’s really useful, thanks. Evans, from than link, look to be out of stock of 18T sprockets, would a 16 be too big a jump?

Anyone fitted a bigger chainring on Bosch Active Line Plus with Hubgears?

I hadn't considered going down on the rear, thanks for that. My rear sprocket is 22T. I wonder if its a DIY job?

Anyone fitted a bigger chainring on Bosch Active Line Plus with Hubgears?

I’m hoping someone can give me some advice based on experience, or wisdom. I have just bought a Raleigh Motus GT 2019 model, (bought on eBay, but unused as new) with a Bosch Active line Plus motor. It has a Shimano Nexus 8 speed hub gear, and 700C wheels (I’m 6 feet 2, 16 stone). My problem is...
