What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

I know what you mean, but you have to balance the battery with the motor. It's fine getting something like the stealth that will power you up a hill at 15.5 mph, but only has a range of 1 mile after doing so.

What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

Well put Flecc. Lee this was what I was trying to poorly put, but from the other side, when you're pedaling on the flat or a slight downhill, the motor doesn't assist if you're over 15.5 mph so you'd not use the range on the battery at that point, as the motor wouldn't be assisting you. So as...

What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

This is what I got http://www.e-bikesdirect.co.uk/Item/Brands/Oxygen_Electric_Bikes/Oxygen_E_Mate_Electric_Bike.aspx However, just got it, had issues with the battery, so would at present be unable to say this is it 100%, But. I did 6 months research after similar requirements - want to cycle...

Love the Criticism RobF...still waiting fro you to put it better. I've just got mine, I had very similar expectations to Lee, and can't find a single post of yours that explains it any better than mine. At least I'm posting with the benefit of recent in-experience . Plus what you say here...

What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

Ok, so I'm going to hold fire on a 100% recommendation, due to having only just got mine (and an issue with the battery, but I want to let the shop / and or oxygen have a chance to put it right), but the Oxygen CB fits all your requirements and as a bonus it's £400 off at the moment. I can...

What were the main worries queries you had before purchasing your e-bike?

Would the bike help me cycle up the hill I could only make part way up on my own. How much would the bike extend my range? Confusion on e-bike laws. I mean if they are supposed to be "exactly" like normal cycles, then why does this apply You must be at least 14 years old to ride an electric bike?

What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

Ok maybe I didn't explain myself very well. The bikes do have varying levels of assist. However it's not a moped. The idea is that you do some of the work. Even if you're really really unfit, and puff if you go up stairs, I bet you could sit on an exercise bike with no resistance and pedal...

So....as a lesson to New People...

This "appears" to be a bargain. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-New-26-Lady-Electric-Bike-E-Bike-Genuine-Samsung-lithium-Battery-/191772365505?hash=item2ca68612c1:g:Q0EAAOSwGotWhqzB It's cheaper than a battery on it's own from one of the known e-bike manufacturers. So what's the pit falls...

What was the problem with the bike in the end? Battery?

What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

You're in a similar position to me.I though big bloke, big motor, big battery. But that's not how it works. You are going to put in 90% of the effort, sometimes 100%. The bike helps you with the remainder. So if it's flat, and you can pedal ok, then you use no battery. IF it's going up a bit...

What bike is best for learning the Knowledge of London (black cab) on?

In which case, why not buy an e-motobike and just not register/tax/insure it as it's the same thing...plus increased range. However wouldn't then having no license work against you then having the knowledge?

    Kid at Christmas

So after struggling to find a bike to do what I wanted the kind chaps at e-bikes direct pointed out that if it didn't I could return it within 14 days and they supported the cycle to work scheme. So after a long chat settled on the Oxygen CB. Key for me is that I live on a hill, so whilst...
