That's very interesting, thanks. I always tend to unplug it as soon as the light goes green for fear of over charging as the charger doesn't inspire me with confidence. But with the knowledge that it's doing some good, I'll leave it charging a bit longer. Is there a danger in leaving it too long?

I'm not sure how old it is, I bought it second hand from a member of this forum. I'm a little shy of opening up the battery, but maybe there's nothing to fear.. I've just measured the battery again after it's been at rest, fully charged for an hour and it's at 53.8v now.

Okay, charger says fully charged and I just tried a multimeter. It said 54v. Is that high?

It does, I'm still using it daily. Can I simply measure the voltage with a multimeter just now when it's fully charged and measure again before I go home?

I had a good experience getting parts for my Bafang hub from Greenbikekit. Just send them all the details and they might be able to to help. It's worth being specific about size of clutch, size of gears, number of teeth etc..

Got my hands on some circlip pliers to get the mechanism off but sadly the supplied cogs are of a different pitch.

Hmm interesting point about petroleum grease- I had some lying around so I definitely would have just used that! I don't know that answer I'm afraid- I have a feeling these gears will get chewed to pieces again before they degrade- too much stop/start stuff in London and throttle is addictive...

The grub screws came out without too much bother- one seems to have previously been rounded but I got a slightly bigger imperial drive and got it out. They were standard thread, with some blue loctite. The hub came apart easy as pie with the tool. Standard thread. Nasty chewed gears...

Well, the tool and parts arrived from GBK. I've soaked the grubs screws in some penetrating oil, and perhaps at lunch time I'll get a chance to attempt a fix.

yes the top video is with it disconnected. In the video it’s making a nasty noise but is able to be turned backwards. Right now, the controller is disconnected and it’ll freewheel but can’t be turned the other way at all, it’s kind of jammed.
