    Are there 'gold standard' brands/manufacturers?

Thanks for all the ideas and recommendations. One thing that emerges from this is that it's probably worth buying from a local dealer with a good reputation, in case anything does go wrong. Maybe that's more crucial than going for a specific make or model...?

    Are there 'gold standard' brands/manufacturers?

Good point, sorry about the vagueness. So - a) Usage. Mainly cycling round Bristol - on-road only, some substantail hills. b) Type. Open to ideas, have previously had a Smarta step-thru type of bike. c) Main thing is reliability esp. of engine and battery. Plus good max. range. d) Price range...

    Are there 'gold standard' brands/manufacturers?

Hi folks, I'm looking to buy a new electric bike, with my main requirements being reliability, durability and battery life/range. With so many options available, I'm wondering if there are certain 'gold standard' companies which I should look at first - i.e. companies that have a good reputation...

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

That's really helpful, thanks. May well try that option first!

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

Works fine apart from the battery. Had that replaced but at the time that cost £450 (it was just out of warranty), and it was more or less "shoe-horned" into the old battery housing by the guy in the shop as it wasn't a straight like-for-like swap. That battery lasted about a year (like the...

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

I suppose the thing to do, as suggested earlier, is to hunt through the archives for info on particular makes/models, and see what (if any) stuff has been posted about them?

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

Thanks for the detailed reply, d8veh, I appreciate it. And I get what you're saying. I'm nervous about what I invest in because I got badly stung with the Smarta bike I bought a few years ago, and I'm trying to avoid a repeat experience. Where elec bikes seem different from a lot of other...

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

And now I'm totally confused. I need to buy an electric bike - not a bog standard bike - because of a minor disability. But "researching" what to buy is deeply confusing. One person will say yeah, great bike, go for it. The next will say nah, pile of garbage. I mean, WTF?!? I don't want to spend...

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

Hi D8ve, I plan to use it for cycling around Bristol - quite a few hills. I still own a Smarta Bike that I've had big battery problems with. First battery died after 14 months, second battery lasted about the same time - just charges enough now to get down the road and back to do shopping...

Woosh Big Bear - a good buy?

Hi folks, I'm thinking of buying the Woosh Big Bear, and was wondering if people on here have had any experience with this company and/or this bike? Btw I'm new to the forum, so hope I'm posting this in the right place, etc.! Thanks, Jay
