    8fun kit?

I converted my giant hybrid - description of the work here http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/9468-8fun-conversion-story.html It has behaved very well, few minor tweaks to eliminate rattles and reroute a bit of wiring. Makes the bike a pleasure to use again.

Has anyone else spotted the "new trend" in helmets ?

Back to helmets - I have recently been put onto rat poison (Warfarin) for a couple of months due to DVT after a long flight and the medics insisted that I started wearing a helmet. Apparently head injuries are especially dangerous when you are on anticoagulants. In about 60 years cycling I have...

    Rear rack help

You should also find a pair of holes on the frame near to the saddle post for the front fixing.

    Buy or convert?

I took the conversion route because I had a decent bike that I liked and didn't think that I would get the same quality from a completed ebike within my price range. If I hadn't had the bike to start with I would have bought a complete ebike. The description of the conversion is here...

    Hi Guys potential new bike

Apart from the bar end shifters it looks very like my 70's (or was it 60's) Claude Butler tourer which is hanging up in the garage, sadly unused for many a year. Good bike, took me many a mile here and across France and Holland.

    Help! low step hill climber wanted. . . . . .

This is one my wife is looking at. Only a basic Chinese folder but the battery and hub motor are the same as I have fitted to my electric bike conversion and, for the price, it seems pretty good. all wheel drive

Just out of interest has anyone here experimented with two wheel drive on a bike? It would be quite easy t implement with hub motors and might be rather interesting to ride. No - I don't intend doing it - just idle curiosity.

    Lighting from 36v battery

That's an interesting idea. I have a couple of in car chargers left from my last phone. I will experiment. Thank you.

    Lighting from 36v battery

I know some biks have lighting run off the motor battery. Is there a cheap and convenient way of doing this on my 8Fun conversion

Quickie SLIME question (ready done tubes or DIY?)

I recently bought a bottle of slime for my bike tyres, day after it arrived my ride on mower developed a puncture. Slime cured it beautifully but now I need another bottle for the bike. Seems to be good stuff.

Compromise! It all seemed so simple until......

I converted my Giant hybrid bike with an 8fun kit. I could have bought the same thing from China a bit cheaper even after duty etc but I got it in 48 hours and no problems. Installation took a bit of tinkering but went well enough. Result is great, road and cycle tracks (I live near Rutland...

    Sunstar Ibike S03

26V 5Ah battery doesn't promise much distance. I should think 36V 10Ah is a reasonable minimum battery size for the journey length you mention.

Bearprint New City 505 problems update!

Are the Bearprint electrics basically Bafang? There seem to be a lot of bikes of Chinese origin with very similar components and I find it hard to judge whether there is any significant difference in quality between bikes varying in price by some hundreds of pounds. I do appreciate that after...

    Low step recommendation please

No. I like to keep things simple on the motorhome. Life is difficult enough with height barriers and weight restrictions (we are just under 3 tonnes and just squeeze into a normal parking slot.

    Low step recommendation please

I really want to get an electric bike for my wife to take away in our motorhome. I have just hired a bike for a day - a Sparta - which was the only one of several that she could get onto due to the step height. She quite liked it but it is too big to go in the van and too heavy to go on the...
