Another newbie needs advice!!!
+1 for the bbs01b. Finished building mine yesterday, wonderful experience. Notched 30km/h easily on flat, 25km/h on hills (I'm nearly as heavy as you) without breaking a sweat. Got my battery from Eclipse, excellent service.

Woohoo... 30 miles on flat, easy! All done and it feels great! Thank you all!!! Btw, decided to drill 2 holes into the metal and plastic battery holder sections... Seemed easier than drilling holes for rivet nuts into frame!

Hey guys, does anyone know if I can drill a hole into the down tube and how / what tool I need to thread it into a bottle cage type hole (so I can then use M5 bolts)? Unfortunately, my bike's existing bottle mount holes are too low / too near the bottom bracket. Thanks. Karl

I ordered the 17.4ah from Eclipse on Friday, they organised delivery near immediately (as I ordered circa 3pm, it's likely to be actually shipped on Monday). Seems to be excellent service to me! Anyway, I considered the option of ordering from China (the BBS01B seller offered me this option), but I declined for that tax and handling fee matter (though I will be paying this for the motor, to be delivered this Wednesday... Its still a bargain when factoring in the DCP14 colour display I am to receive). The only concerns I have remaining are to do with a few previous complaints regarding the grease in the gears in previous versions of the bafang motor and whether my new BBS01B will need to be opened for extra apllication of Mobil grease 28 (as recommended by others)

Yes, seller just confirmed as such... it's circa 11:30pm in China! So, 20-25amp discharge rate is ok for this 15A controller? http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=144 Or should I just get better quality and go for 30Q version? http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=102 Difference: 3.4ah... what's that in real terms... 5-6 miles over longevity? Muchas gracias...

So, basically; the battery is ok with either amp'd versions 15A / 25A, but if I had the 25A motor, then I'm better off buying the better quality 30Q battery version (but will lose a few amp hours for my £££ )? I'll ask the seller and see what they have to say. It's due to the UK in five days... so excited!

There is are more than one amp'd version of the 250w bbs01b? Guess I'll have to wait for the delivery before ordering the battery then. Cheers Nealh

Will the continuous discharge current be ok for the BBS01B? it states 20-25Amps, but I'm sure i read somewhere, the BBS is 15-18A?.. or does this not matter?

Ok, so according to you guys, I should buy a bigger capacity battery, so (I'm hoping the missus doesn't finds out I'll be whacking £300.00+ on it), it's between the following: http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=110 (Whale sized) and; http://eclipsebikes.com/product_info.php?products_id=144 (Dolphin sized) Other than the slight price, size and weight difference, are there any other differences to me choosing either one?. FWIW, I did look at Whoosh and brightonEbikes.. Eclipse had the better website experience and probably best for value (save for the bling ring, which i'll be saving up for a later job, depending on the performance of the stock chainrings) Thanks for your valuable input, as always!

Toolkit for mid drive eBike kit: PANDA MDRIVE, BAFANG BBS01, RELO
Woo... was going to buy that same kit from the fleabay for £45, but now that d8veh has pointed the equivalent kit in halford, might as well get that one, which, from the outset looks more sturdy!

I was only planning to ride to work (five steep hills, 12 mile journey each way) and down some canal tracks at the weekend... Might not need so much power, lest I desire to swim with the ducks and local wildlife. . However, if this is so enjoyable as everyone says it is for them, I might invest in full Susser and slog the BBSHD on it, the missus (and budget) permitted, obviously...

That's quite encouraging from a 250w motor!
