    indiegogo Storm bike

I agree, when you look at what high end ebikes cost (i.e. around £3000), you could build as good an ebike yourself for a fraction of the cost, and have something unique that is your own awesome creation. Therefore the only reason to spend that much on an ebike is because you lack any practical...

    rebuilding a battery

Could you put a bungee or something similar on the frog battery to hold it in place more securely?

    wierd power problem

Has some wire that was bypassing a speed limiter become disconnected?

    rebuilding a battery

The battery for my bike is an awkward square shape, I just put it in one of my panniers (altura orkney, quick release) and they have a handle on top to carry it inside and charge it up

    Dynamo...

I have done a lot of messing about with dynamos. They make 6v ac but you cam put the output through a bridge rectifier to make dc. Years ago I had a bottle dynamo that powered my walkman as I rode. The walkman had a pair of rechargeable batteries in it and it worked well with just the bottle...

    Towing toddlers and climbing Hills

I would go with a crank drive like the woosh ones already suggested. I have a cyclone crank drive motor which has been good for towing a heavy trailer but it is a kit rather than a ready built bike.

    Battery problem - with background

If you range is consistently down you my have a few duff cells. Could try running the bike until the battery is quite flat and then measuring the cell voltages to confirm this

The beginning of the end.... already!

Pretty sure most ktm bikes will be generating a power output greater than 250w when climbing a hill..........

    Spoke tension

I had a spoke fail on the rear wheel last week, but it was one I had tightened up to try and straighten the wheel, which was quite old and squiffy. As a result of that one spoke being a lot tighter it snapped when I was riding on rough ground. Lesson learned: keep spoke tensions even. I put too...

    Staying with my Haibike...

I agree the freedom of ebiking is great, and has resulted in a massive reduction in car use for me. I find other cyclists are usually friendly where I live (Cornwall). Have some great encounters / races with the lycra clad racer type sometimes

Macina Action 2015: a critical failure in quality control… made worse by crap customer service

The size of a business is irrelevant when considering customer service. Enormous or tiny, any business needs to meet the needs of it's customers to succeed. There are many ebike companies that offer great customer service, subsequently people enjoy doing business with them and recommend them to...

    500W Cyclotricity Revolver ordered!

PC plod hasn't got the technology to tell the difference beyond a sticker. Many legal manufacturers bikes use a lot more than 250w when going up a hill, as other forum members have measured and proven.

    500W Cyclotricity Revolver ordered!

Could take one off a 250w motor.....There is a bloke on endless sphere prints them

BBS02 or BPM or... advice for UK kit

If you are wanting to tow a trailer I think you would be better off with a crank drive kit, based on my own experience. Makes use of your gears to get you up a hill, just like the gearbox in a car

    Inverters

I bought a 650w continuous rating inverter to run a 90w fridge, but it wouldn't. The inrush on an inductive motor is such a spike it takes a 1000w inverter to switch it on! Not entirely relevant to lithium battery chargers but it shows how inrush currents need to be taken into consideration when...
