What amp/voltage are the most popular brands

Brose, Shimano, Bosch etc I know the bafang numbers, ie 36v 15am but they don't publish these numbers just give you the nm number? Anyone know, what voltage and contoller ratings the popular brands use?

    Performance of different motors?

cheers for that kirstin, interesting, sounds like it they make well have performed exactly the same then, if you'd limited the amps to 15a? As the limiting factor there seems to be the limits of the 250w machine?

    Performance of different motors?

    say a bafang, 250 v 500w.

    Performance of different motors?

Will a 250w motor and a 500w motor perform exactly the same if volts and amps are consistent between them? Say for talking sake both motors running at 36V/15A.

What to do with integrated brake and gear levers?

I don't use any brake cut off, I don't think they are essential.

    Bike for heavy user

Yeah, that's the 2 points are are foremost in my mind, how to protect the motor from rock strikes, I think I'll probably just cut up and old tyre and have that on as a bit of protection on the underside. And how to mount the battery, yeah agree there, 2 water bottle mounts aren't going to me...

    Bike for heavy user

It's an interesting idea, defo think you'd need to think of hardtail and full suss options though, which is a minefield in itself, first and foremost people would need to be confident the frame could stand up. Thers's also different frame geometries and the like to consider(wheel sizes 27.5/29...

    Bike for heavy user

Don't take this the wrong way, but that's very obvious when you look at what what you classify as an mtb on your website. It's not exactly set up as a proper mtb you could abuse. Mid drive is also dominant on emtbs for a good reason, and it's all to do with centre of gravity and balance on the...

    Bike for heavy user

Depends, a hardtail in the hands of a good rider will go down down most things, a full sus in the hands of a poor rider will struggle to go down anything. both bikes will handle rough stuff. i'm about to strap a bafang on my genesis core 40 (2011) hardtail tomorrow. I shan't be shying away...

    Tyre pressure query

interesting point, I don't have any longer term experience of ebikes yet, so dunno, I'll bow to your knowledge on that. Got mine coming soon though, mid drive mind, but lower tyre life expectancy + more grip is a compromise i'd happily make.

    Tyre pressure query

fair do's. never actually realised it was a hub motor, nor realised hub motors have that issue. Still think 44 is too high though, and I would go lower. i'm a heavier rider myself, 115kg, so I've got 40kgs on a 75kg rider(so more than a 10kg motor and battery combo would add), and my pressures...

    Tyre pressure query

why? the motor make no difference to the tyres, not like you are running it at speeds that aren't achievable on a non motorised bike..

Bbshd realistic range on full power

I've tested my brothers bbshd, 48v 11.4ah battery. so 547wh. On pure flat tarmac i managed 38 miles on one run, still had 2 bars left on the battery, flickering in to 1 though, so i reckon 45 to 50 miles on the flat is possible. stock setting, assist no higher than 3. I also did a hilly...

    Tyre pressure query

give it a go at 35, you'll know immediately if they are too squishy. I reckon you'll be fine at 35. It'll not hurt you or the tyre to try. I reckon, you'll be able to go down to 25 psi tbh. my xkings max is 65psi, recommended 50 on the manufacturers website(ridiculously hard for an mtb tyre). I...

    Austria joins th e-bike boom

It'll get there, ebikes in shops all over in the last year or so I've seen. Loads of people with them on the cycle forums too.
