. If they were available, I'd fit a 38 or even a 40 .

They are.

A range extender cog replaces the smallest cog, so you lose that.

But they are aimed at those wanting to run 1X10 set ups, which is what your bike has.

The cog even comes in a pretty colours.

Sorry Rob but my Cube has a 9 speed 11/34 as std & I fitted a 12/36.
Those range extender sprockets you recomended are for 10 speed cassettes ! And stupidly expensive.

If and when I need to change, I'll consider a 9 speed hub gear but at the moment I'm running two sets of wheels/cassettes.

Gotcha.

I've never been entirely sure about 9/10 speed compatibility.

I wonder how badly or otherwise it would work if you mounted an extender on your current set-up.
