That's wonderful news,Dave. Thanks,I look forward to trying one.
I've read recently that much more powerful motors can be certified to comply with EN15194 by using the acceleration test . How can this be done when they are pas only with no throttle?
But what about efficiency? At very low rpm surely our ebike motors produce their highest torque but are least efficient. We need to run them most efficiently to eke out our meagre ranges.Similarly...
That's interesting,Trex. How does the motor drive the wheels? Is it a future possibility to have an electronic controller cvt on an ebike?
Don't know! If it's only one, perhaps because they are not too worried about efficiency having an unlimited supply of energy. Our electric road vehicles have to carry their own supply limited by...
Some recent discussion on this forum prompts me to put forward the view that for a limited power and torque motor as we all have, a drive through variable gear ratios is inherently advantageous. It...
Hatti,
Rather than the possibly problematic CD kit,how about some more styles of bike with the CD unit?
The one other thing I would like ,too, is 100% power on the throttle.
Best wishes,and a...
Seems too dear compared to your excellent value CD bikes.I can understand why but to me it's not worth it!
Another Tonaro enthusiast here! I've had my Compy nearly two years now-no problems and great delight! The Compy frame is big too and quite suitable for taller riders. It's the combination of crank...
Rustic, have you missed the Tonaros?Blew it posted his Bighit frame was 21".
Quite so,Rich! All good fun! Aren't we lucky to have so many different types of vehicles to play with? Can't see why more powerful ebikes need be so expensive though.
Nearly 100,000 motorcycles registered in UK each year, about 5 times the ebikes sold here.I'll be happy to sail past you doing 15mph on my plated bike doing 28mph in my helmet!
Personally I don't think those "difficulties" amount to a bag of beans! Most responsible ebike riders have insurance anyway, and a licence;the TA ,no.plate and cost are up to the seller,so it's...
Yes come on Wisper, make history! Register and insure a 45kph ebike. It could open up a whole new market!
I'd encourage you to pursue it ,David.Must say I'd want a throttle,though!
No problem,Garry, already have at least four m/c helmets of various types and there are all sorts on the market.
Thanks,David.Aren't the Kalkhoff bikes type approved already? I would certainly be very interested in a fully legal bike that could do 30mph on the road silently and give me as much exercise as I...
David, why not try the suggestion already made of registering one for the road and making it road legal. It would be very interesting to many and might get over your insurance problem?
So how do AVE get 45kph from 350 watt motors? What true wattage is needed to maintain 45 kph on the flat?
My vote goes to the Tonaro range that combine throttle with chain drive.Soon to be joined, possibly, with the Woosh chain drives and the Kudos Ibex if they fit a throttle.
Yes, best wishes from your many friends on this forum.Get well soon!
Don't ignore the Tonaro range from Powerpedals in South Molton.Well proven crank drive with throttle. Many thousands sold all over the world.
Excellent back up.
No problem on Tonaros. If the Tourney gears aren't good enough don't use them!'
These torque figures are not enormous. If a 12 stone rider puts all his weight on a 6" crank he exerts a torque of 84 lb ft equal to 113nm.Tonaro claim 128 nm and have been running successfully for...
We could do with some clarification of these ebike torque figures. This Woosh claims 20 nm multiplied by the gears to about 60 nm at the wheel in lowest gear.Kudos Ibex claims 60 nm without further...
