Torq Problem: Offset front wheel - sticking vee brake - fork shudder

Thanks flecc. I had tried adjusting the grubs but they didn't seem to have any effect. I'll give it another go though. 50 Cycles have offered to fit new brake levers when they arrive on the next container.

Torq Problem: Offset front wheel - sticking vee brake - fork shudder

Thanks Russ - I've just checked and that's exactly what I've got. I'll fill out the form as suggested. I will be very annoyed with 50C if they've sold me this bike with a known problem... I only got it a week ago! Do you think the wheel position is a red herring then?

Torq Problem: Offset front wheel - sticking vee brake - fork shudder

Hi all, I have a problem with shuddering forks when braking. I thought this was just a loose headset which seems to be a common problem but I've tightened it quite a few times now to no avail and I don't wish to tighten it further and risk damaging it. A fellow cyclist noticed that the...

    Wearing earphones while cycling

I saw some phillips 'round the back of the neck & hook over the ear' jobbies in Curry's yesterday. Caught my eye because they only have the lead going to one side which is less cumbersome I think. Tried them out today and they're just the job. Bit uncomfortable for my left ear for some reason...

Want to calculate your exact route distance?

I must have been unclear - sorry, but I charge at work so I'm doing 17.5 miles per charge at the mo. I'm pretty sure a single charge wouldn't get me there and back again. Might give it a go one day to see how far I do get though :)

Want to calculate your exact route distance?

Russ, I've just done my first week of 16.5-17.5 mile (depending on route) commutes each way on the Torq. I'd always thought it was 18 miles, but was forgetting I've moved office a short distance & house a short distance also in the last few months which explains the slight shortening. I've...

    Accessory and Apparel Recommendations

Hmmm. That doesn't look too encouraging then :( I find the problem at it's worst when traffic is congested but moving slowly. However, even on a dual carriageway where the traffic is more sparse, I find I get occasional lungfulls of gunk, especially from lorrys chugging up inclines.

Yuk - Exhaust Fumes I've done 4 days commuting so far and the exhaust fumes are bloody horrible! So... thinking of getting a pollution mask. I have heard these make you very hot and sweaty but I'm going to have to give it a go I think. Been looking at the Respro City Mask on Ebay for £21...

eZee Torq owners: What range are you getting from your battery?

Derestring Torq I'm intending to check out my range derestricted at the weekend (obviously on private land ;) ) and I've heard it's a very straightforward process, but... could someone tell me where the restrictor is on the Torq please? Many thanks.

    Breakdown cover

I think it's Oobs who has the breakdown cover with ETA. Has anyone else taken out breakdown cover? I'm with the AA for my car and I emailed them to see if an electric bike would be covered (I'm not thinking roadside repair here - more a lift home ;) ) I asked them specifically about an...

    Trailers

You've probably all seen the picture of Flecc's amazing trailer in the 'show us yours' thread:cool: I was wondering if anyone else uses a trailer regularly? Flecc - do you have a more modest trailer for smaller loads or just that monster? I'm considering getting one for the supermarket...

Which make of electric bike do you own?

Ian - I've been looking at these trailers myself on Ebay. Will you let us know when you get round to attaching it to your bike? I'm really interested in what you think about it.

    Sensible Improvements

I agree about the grips. Just passable with bare hands but as soon as you put gloves on they're quite uncomfortable over long periods.

eZee Torq owners: What range are you getting from your battery?

Thanks flecc - you put my mind at ease about the extra weight. I bungee my spare on the rack, then put the panniers on top of it which makes it a pain to get to obviously. I did try to put the battery in one of the panniers but it's too big for mine. I'll probably just derestrict one...

    Bike Insurance

oobs, just been looking on the ETA website and was going to get a quote for insurance (am also considering their breakdown cover). They ask for the name of the person (and their ETA number if available) who recommended ETA to you. If supplied that person may get £10 and the new customer also...

    Accessory and Apparel Recommendations

Hi all. Thought it might be a good idea to have a thread running where people could recommend any accessories (e.g. lights, panniers, flame throwers etc.) and apparel (e.g. waterproofs, helmets etc.). Also would be handy to warn people off any dodgy items you've had bad experiences with!

    Review of my Bionx PL-350

Nick - brilliant review! How did you generate the data for the journey profile? That's exactly the sort of info we could all do with when discussing and comparing range and speed.

eZee Torq owners: What range are you getting from your battery?

Sorry - should have said I'm still riding restricted to 15mph. I will experiment with derestricting once I've a few commutes under my belt..... I do the like the look on car drivers faces when you pull away fast :D

eZee Torq owners: What range are you getting from your battery?

My range so far I tried my commute route out for the first time today (Clay Cross to Sheffield). A 36 mile round trip non-stop over pretty hilly terrain with quite a lot of wind. I have two batteries so I could swap for the return journey. On both legs I think I had a little juice left...

    Wearing earphones while cycling

Good idea flecc, thanks. Funnily enough I already own the creative speakers and rarely use them. I might give it a try. Been out today though in fairly windy conditions and I wonder how effective bar mounted speakers would be when competing with the gales about the ears. I agree with your...
