My first e-bike: how to maintain it? tips and advice [Kudos K16]

A quick and dirty way... Ping the spokes like you would a harp string. You're looking for a similar, bright ringing sound across all spokes - any that sound dull, or much lower in tone, are probably loose (certainly in comparison to others) and could do with a tighten. It's not scientific, but...

Go to work on a Pineapple! Wisper Folder sneak preview.

How about an adjustable stem a la Tern? I always find the bars perched atop the steerer less than ideal handling wise. My Kudos has bent bars, and the small offset this gives (so the turning moment of the bar is not directly on the steerer) makes a difference to stability. Other than that I like...

Cheap electric folder. Help me choose x

I rate the Kudos Secret pretty highly (unsurprising as I have one!) Rides really well, far more like a full size. Quite well put together, and a good range (25m plus on a charge).

Surprised that not more people on this forum have B'Twin ebikes

I've a Riverside 7 that I'm thinking of converting. It's a good bike - Deore XT, Magura hydraulics, nice componentry and a good, if a little heavy, ally frame. Might make a nice conversion.

    eelo 1885 is good?

I'm pleased with my Kudos Cycles Secret. Folding, rides well (20" wheels) and is very comfortable with a good range. Don't know if there are any Eire based dealers though. Might be a bit heavy (as will any folding e-bike) for carrying up stairs. If you wanted to take the risk there's the Furo X...

dahon folder conversion - fast and light

I would put in a suggestion for the Kudos Secret. Mine has good riding position - with bar ends (Ergo G3s) I'm in a fairly sporty stance (I'm 6' with reasonably long legs), but it does have a telescopic stem if you want higher. The addition of something like an adjustable stem unit would be easy...

    New bike info

I commute 8-9 miles each way daily when in London on my Kudos Secret. I'm 6' and just under 14st. Comfy, relatively quick (faster than the underground) and the battery gets me there and back easily. I fold and store in car boot at night. No issues to speak of so far - until I can get an...

    Camera's

Saw a nice one in my LBS today - a combined light/camera. Looked to have excellent video quality on it. 400 lumens light too... thought it was a good idea. Can't remember the make though, or the price!

Zero balance, poor control, sub £1k folding bike help

Other more knowledgable souls on here may correct me... but you're describing a cadence sensor bike. As long as the pedals are turning the motor will run, up to the speed you've set. The other style of bike (torque sensing) measures the amount you're pressing on the pedals and increases the...

    Which folding commuter bike

Gonna put in a vote for Kudos' Secret... mine copes well with a 9 mile commute (each way) on a charge. Rides very well, comfortable and stable with plenty of assistance when needed.

    Folders

Although you've bought already, I'll chime in with a vote for the Kudos Secret. I've been really impressed with mine - I've gradually replaced some components that were wearing (pedals, brakes) but overall I'm happy with it - easily copes with a 9-mile each way commute through London...

I got my A2B Hybrid, and I'm hating it.

I find it's all about learning the characteristics of the bike, and controller. My Secret is cadence, and initially I found the 'All or Nothing' delivery at full power (of 3 settings) a bit awkward - but now I'm entirely used to changing down to low power in heavy traffic, and upward again as...

    Fold up bike

The Secret would happily accommodate you both - I'm 6' with a 32" inseam and it's fine for me. A cracking little bike that rides very well for a folder.

    Ebiking lets me..

E-Biking allows me... to commute 9 miles in to London (and 9 out again) without getting to the office needing a shower... and keeps me fitter than using public transport would!!

    London Cyclist Death

I commute in London occasionally - why I bought my Secret in the first place. People often say to me 'How do you manage that? Must be terrifying!' and I see their dumbfounded reaction when I say that pollution aside, I consider London to be a safe place to cycle. The sheer volume of cyclists...

Is £800 enough money to spend on an everyday ride to work bike.

My recent commuting foray in London was an eye opener for me. I took the plunge and bought a secondhand (barely used) Kudos Secret, fitted with a larger 56t chainring. Commuting from Ealing to Holborn (about 9 miles, depending on route) was a breeze for me and I'm spectacularly unfit. Took about...

Volt Metro / BH Emotion EasyGo Volt / Kuo+

Having just got my Secret I'm very impressed with it. It hauls my 15 and a bit stone across London very easily. Did 2 days without charging (so 40 miles) using a mix of power settings, and always pedalling - except for the last mile on one commute when my RH pedal parted company with the bike. I...

It should be weather sealed and fine. If there's nothing in the handbook to say otherwise, assume it's up for all weather use.

    Lidl Cycling Gear

Still pleased with the saddle, although the supplied seat post adapter is a bit pants - too soft a steel and (for me) almost impossible to do up securely. I've swapped it now as no amount of tightening would do it up enough to be secure, and slipping off the back of a loose saddle is not fun...
