    Leaving the EU

I used to read the Torygraph for years. It was a good paper once and the news and opinion pages were kept well apart. But when Black took it over it turned into a propaganda sheet echoing his own viewpoint. Under the Barclays it’s just a run of the mill right wing paper supporting right wing...

    Leaving the EU

Not sure what Blair has to do with anything. He was never a Labour figure and was actually some sort of American Democrat/European Christian Democrat cross. As to where he is? He’s hanging out with his billionaire chums and dipping energetically into the money river, where they found him a good...

    Leaving the EU

I thought for a moment you meant the British union. Because a vote to leave would open up the UK break up scenario again. The Scots and Welsh do not want to leave the EU and they have done better from it financially than parts of England. So it would be the reverse side of the last time when the...

    Childrens Pedlec

Doubt it unless she is going to be a giantess. 24” wheels are for people up to around 5’ tall as I recall and four years olds are around half that.

    Leaving the EU

I doubt it, and after the general election polls I don’t think anyone takes them too seriously. When the reality of what would happen if we did leave bites, and the stark choice is made. Then just like the Scots the UK will in all probability vote to stay with nurse for fear of something worse...

    Innocent until proved guilty?

Bit like the colonel inspecting the other ranks dining arrangements. “ Any complaints?” As the sergeant major looks on with a beady eye. Anyone who did have the temerity to complain would have found himself is deep merde after the brass left.

    Innocent until proved guilty?

That’s right. But shelf stackers don’t meet those criteria. These sound like just another bunch of p*ss takers who don’t know or care about the law. The same sort of ignorance that bans guide dogs from supermarkets.

How on earth does he get away with this?

Quite agree that some fishermen are very selfish, but some boat users don’t have a clue either. In a situation like a public towpath you have to live and let live. I used to walk the dogs and cycle on towpaths a lot where I lived before and people riding bikes far too fast was a constant...

How on earth does he get away with this?

If they see you coming you might find next time that a swift kick will see you in with the fish.

    Commuter Bike for hills

No, they don’t take much effort. The latest Kalkhoff is a very powerful climber.

Is £800 enough money to spend on an everyday ride to work bike.

Of course Made in Japanese used to be a mark of a poor product until they established themselves as a country making good quality goods. Similarly in time Chinese goods will also be considered to be quality if they are at the quality end of the market. Apple is a quality product and has been...

    Cheating again

As I said Chris Froome is reported on the Beeb as taking it seriously, and so have the scrutineers been when they stripped his bikes down. Personally I had no idea how technically possible it is but we wouldn’t be talking off the shelf motors and switches here. Modern racing bikes are very...

    Cheating again

If you’ve ever been close to a peloton going past they make a hell of a racket. Enough to cover up any slight noise, and these motors may be designed to be silent. Chris Froome takes it seriously and he says he wants more bikes stripped and checked at events. He also says that they have paid...

    Maximising range

Or not. It just means faffing about with settings.

    Maximising range

If you’re going downhill and pedalling while using assist in practice you will use almost no power because the motor isn’t doing any real work. You use most power going fast on the flat and going uphill. Just as pedalling on a normal bike going downhill takes almost no effort.

    Maximising range

If you aren’t pedalling going downhill you won’t be using any battery power. Only a tiny amount used to run the BMS.

    Cheating again

Yes I read that this morning and was going to link to it too. The rumours have been around for a long time but the is the first occasion when they actually found something. It doesn’t say where the battery was but they are saying that these motors can save up to 100W of rider input. That seems...

    Maximising range

Thing is though that you want an assisted bike for a reason. So if you use it in low assist all the time it won’t be so much fun. Depending on how bike fit you are now it might be too much like very hard work and put you off too. Personally I like to leave the bike in max assist and pretend...

    Help Going Legal

Used to be able to do it here too. A friend always had his cars registered at his holiday cottage in Brittany, and never paid any road tax in the UK. The law was changed though.

Lithium Ion batteries are recommended to be banned as cargo on passenger planes.

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/jan/28/un-panel-backs-banning-lithium-ion-battery-shipments-on-passenger-planes As above. The UN has recommended banning these batteries as cargo on passenger planes. "Aviation safety experts believe at least three cargo planes have been destroyed by...
