To get the correct length spoke simpy remove a good spoke and measure it. Sapim Strong 14g SS from Ryanspokes/Ryanbuildswheels.

    Controller wiring

Yes . All of the wire looms that use 1T4 cables etc,etc do exactly this and use the one 5v and Gnd as a common wire supply and split off within in the mould connector.

    Assist cuts out occasionally

Ride your bike as normal and if it works ok (without hills /overheating) then one has already narrowed down the issue . In all probability it won't be until one replicates the slow speed up a steeper incline using the same PAS level that one will see the fault again, when it does immediately...

    Display replacement problem!

Bit of a bugger that . Looks like one will have to carry out some controller tests but if you have waterproof connectors then it isn't straight forward. Controller Mosfets and motor Halls are the two main areas to check but will depend if the connectors are at all user friendly to poke...

    Assist cuts out occasionally

Very highly unlikely imv to be the PAS as it would occur intimittently more often, the mosfet scenario in the hotter climate will likely be the cause and easier to replicate by riding then playing about on a bike stand.

    Assist cuts out occasionally

Controller thermal cut out of the mosfets was my second thought on reading the #1 again, having previously not read it properly. Hence asking the climbing speed. I know when I had thermal cutitng out riding the South Downs, I too was riding too slowly for the steep sections I came across. Heat...

How fast do you pedal up hill when the power cuts out ?

    Assist cuts out occasionally

Good point I over looked, yep if the display remains on then the fault is likely elsewhere.

    Brake upgrade. Mechanical or hydraulic

I saw the Risun ones when I bought the 48v 250w tsdz2 and thought they looked quite good value , however the AliExpress ones are fairly similar and and they all look like shimano copies of the lower end budget HDB's so should generally do a good job.

    Assist cuts out occasionally

A replacement/new battery will solve the issues or choose less hilly routes , it is a simple fact of science that batteries will age, once they age they simply can't deliver the performance as when they are new. Internal cell resistance and heat are part of the ageing process of a battery and...

    Assist cuts out occasionally

If it only occurs on hill climbs then battery voltage sag is the cause, when the voltage sags it hits the battery BM LVC so the power will cut out. A fully charged battery can usually deal with it but once the battery voltage reduces thru use then the likelyhood is and older battery will...

    Brake upgrade. Mechanical or hydraulic

I would be inclined to stay away form zoom /tektro brands. I had tektro on my Ute cargo bike but they were fairly poor braking wise no matter what I did to try and imptove them, in the end replaced with shimano 4 pot front and 2 pot with disc upgrade rear for far better braking.

    Brake upgrade. Mechanical or hydraulic

They look pretty much like clones of the similar Shimano entry hdb's so are likely quite good. If one buys 2 pin brake connector in error they can also be used with controllers with 3 pin connectors, simply omit the 5v ( insulate the 5v) from the 3 pin and solder up the other two. Cut offs...

Battery dies quickly, next stop scrappy ?

Same here all old batteries have cells dismantled for torch use or other smaller 12v packs . My pair of dolphin batteries and an old Sam 22f pack (all 36v) still hold good voltage but sag with heavier current draw so are used as DC supplies for my beekeeping electric centrafuge extracator which...

That's one good thing about this forum , there are users here who will call out bad advice or prompt advice in the right direction.

Battery dies quickly, next stop scrappy ?

Before I dispose of a battery , I try and find out the reason for the poor performance but in most cases I already know the batteries short comings from past use and diagnosis.
