    ‘An e-bike changed my life’

I assume it was the same reporter, kate, who was making enquiries on this forum in September. Nice to think its being noticed in a positive way.

    Help! ERROR E22 AND E21

Though it sounds like the error codes are the least of your troubles... I had an E21 code a couple of weeks ago. I took it into my local Halfords (who I've always found good) and they cleaned the sensor and the problem appears to be solved (for now). No cost. This is the first time this has...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Press the power + & - buttons at the same time for a second or so.

Does anyone know what Spokes the Carrera Crossfire E uses?

There seems to be little consistency in Halfords, either the shops or the bikes. I’ve had a problem with broken spokes but each time it’s been dealt with under warranty. Now they’ve ordered a new wheel to see if that will prevent further issues. I have had the cut -out but it’s never caused me...

Surprised that not more people on this forum have B'Twin ebikes

We had a couple of Rockrider (8.1?) which were excellent pedal bikes. They had a good spec, well built and at a very reasonable price. However having moved we no longer have a convenient Decathalon, otherwise I would have no hesitation in exploring their Pedelecs. Our Crossfires are similar in...

    Puncture proofing tyres

I play walking football and playing on tarmac near hedges we punctured several quite heavy duty plastic balls. It was cheaper to experiment with a slime product rather than replace. Injected the solution through the valve, bounded the balls a few times and sure enough worked a treat. I’ve also...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I’ve had a couple of rear spokes break. My local Halfords (Evesham) have dealt with the problem so far.

What are my rights with faulty e-bike?

I think it depends upon context. I'm retired, overweight, living on the edge of the Cotswolds, and Mrs B and myself both have Crossfires. We've both had cutout issues but in the early stages of ownership - I think in some cases it's a "settling-in" issue. If we have been held up jointly for 5...

What are my rights with faulty e-bike?

That's disappointing, especially if you've lost faith in the bike, but I've found the cutout isn't too much of a hinderance. Pressing the battery button usually kicks it back into life and a more fiddly solution is to re-settle the battery in its mount. Of course you can ride it without the...

    Grinding sound from bike

I had this noise earlier today. It was intermittent and wasn't there yesterday. I dropped into a Halfords to see if it was a known fault. Apparently not but a thorough spray of lubricant seemed to do the trick. 20 miles on and I haven't heard it again.

Yet another Fat bloke and his Small Mrs.

My (much smaller) wife & I both have crossfires. I'm very overweight, she isn't but different sizes and style (crossbar & stepthrough) suit us well. We have both had very occasional cut out issues but in our case it's been merely a minor irritation and has diminished over time, maybe the...

Do ebikes take the fun out of cycling ?

I think they take the age out of cycling. When I was 25 I would cycle a lot for leisure and occasionally transport. Then I was 45 and the cycling grew less. Then I retired and the cycling returned but the hills got steeper and more intimidating. Then we moved (to the edge of the Cotswolds) and...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Be aware of how much you can lift. I'm a big bloke, ex rugby player ( ok, old and fat) but I struggle to lift the Carrera onto the motorhome bike rack. Good luck!

Fixes for carerra crossfire cut outs?

Lack of long term fix may also indicate lack of long term problem. My wife & I both have Crossfires, different frames but massive savings in the sale, and in well over 1000 K we have had the power cut off 3 or 4 times between us. It was a minor inconvenience rather than a problem in our riding...

    Carrera Crossfire-E battery enquiry

I find my display fairly accurate for my style of use. I tend to ride without power unless hills or headwind get a bit much for the knees. And of course for every uphill there is a downhill. As such I get about 1km per % (if that makes sense). Obviously every ride is slightly different but that...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

I think it mainly depends on your skills and the staff in the store. They suggested it would only take 20 minutes, so clearly its a check over and tightening rather than anything more complicated, most of which I could do. On the other hand I had a Very stuck pedal (I wanted to change them) so...
