eBikes Banned in New York City

Are electric cars really that quiet? There's a firm round here that uses Leafs for taxis and I have honestly been unable to tell much if any difference in the sound of them vs any modern small petrol-engined runabout as they pass me on the road. Most of the noise from either seems to come from...

No chain, It'll never catch on

I think that once the idea is refined and iterated there's no reason to suppose that it won't be more reliable than a mechanical chain drive and all the associated gubbins. I wouldn't buy one yet but I reckon that something like this is the way that electric bikes will mostly go eventually.

Next time someone says you're "cheating"...

I just tell them that wearing lycra is cheating too and at least I'm not dressed like a total fanny.

    Cycling in the Rain!!!

I just got some of these for rainy days. I mainly just use my bike for commuting so the built in shoe covers mean I don't need to take another pair of shoes: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/100-waterproof-urban-cycling-overtrousers-black-id_8328693.html

what ebike for someone with a gammy knee??

Nah, it won't. You need to have already engaged the motor by pedalling before the throttle does anything.

what ebike for someone with a gammy knee??

If you don't have your thumb on the throttle it stops altogether, if you do use the throttle it'll just keep going at whatever speed up to the maximum.

what ebike for someone with a gammy knee??

You can keep going with just the throttle but I never do. It feels fast enough most of the time really. But it depends what you're after I guess. My commute it still lets me average a comparable time to what I do in the car. Can easily go much faster if I want to do a bit of a sprint on...

what ebike for someone with a gammy knee??

No specific recommendation but as someone who also has a dodgy knee, (in my case it's after a couple of surgeries to repair skateboarding injuries) I'd have to say that an electric bike is a really good idea and a great way to regain strength without overdoing it and causing yourself setbacks...

Two new Woosh bikes are on the way

Thanks, I'll have a look at chain guides and perhaps a larger chainring at some point.

Two new Woosh bikes are on the way

Thanks. I've found the seat ok for me although I have also had the chain come off the front sprocket in first gear and also just now come off at the back in top gear. To be honest I'd just kind of ignored the first gear issue because it's so low that I can't think when I'd be using it but it...

Two new Woosh bikes are on the way

New here with a Rio FB on the way tomorrow. My first electric bike. I was looking at doing a conversion but decided I want to keep my current bike as it is. Hopefully this should fit the bill for what I need. Which for the most part is a 16 mile round trip commute. I did look at the Rio MTB...
