Post purchasing those bikes is there any realistic chance of getting public liability insurance? Assuming that is what the OP is asking and being worried about not having that injury to others liability protection.

Are we not all stymied in any attempt to measure the power here by that additional word "continuous" ? Only the maker can laydown what they deem "continuous" for their product, its a way different thing to peak power, which can readily be checked as long as its point of measurement is laid...

The power rating, continuous or maximum of our cars is however unlike our e-bikes not currently embedded in its usage legality.

Yes, they apply only to "motorised vehicles", but whilst that does not include legal pedelecs, once modified outside the regulations, then in does! Points on licence and fine, plus chance of being charged with its use without insurance, helmets etc.

That is a rear hub system, not the crank drive, so not quite "like for like" comparisons, irrespective of personal views on the relative merits..
