This thread is really taking me back about 30 years or so to a misspent youth :-) I used to spend hours tinkering with 555 timers to implement police sirens and various other noise making circuits. I'm amazed the 555 is still available after all these years!

Sorry to hear you're not having a good experience. I guess I must be lucky on my route now as most drivers (and cyclists) are pleasant and courteous - though of course every now and then I do come across the occasional idiot.
