Hi Troy, It's great to hear from you and I'm really pleased the motor & kit is working out well for you. Looks like you have a really neat arrangement with the Rixen bag. Regarding wiring, I did do a circuit diagram in a thread where I wrote up the project. See here...

The spare motor (item 4 in the list above) has now sold. If anyone would like to take everything else off my hands, I would take £200 for the lot.

DIY kit for sale - Tongxin motors, controllers, batteries, chargers etc

I returned to cycling with the help of electric bikes a few years ago and managed to build my fitness levels to the extent I no longer need the electric assist. I built up a fair amount of DIY kit which I've now decided to sell off as we need the space. If you've opened this thread you...

    Winter Tyres

I used Schwalbe Marathon winter tyres when it got icy last season. As commented earlier in this thread, losing studs can be a problem though I only lost a few over the season. I sent Schwalbe an email and they kindly sent me an envelope full of new studs. I cycled on narrow untreated roads in...

Be Seen - Stupid or not

Being seen using whatever lights and reflectives that take your fancy is a good thing but it's also worth having a think about riding style and specifically positioning on the road which can have a huge effect on whether other road users see you. There's a good book called 'Cyclecraft' which is...

I notice Stephen Fry's new series that starts tonight on channel 4 is about high tech commuting and features a look at an odd looking electric scooter thing. Could be worth a look.

Just had the following email from Brompton. I guess the official Ebrompton product is still going to take a while... Hello Many of you have been writing to ask about the eBrompton, which we were planning to launch about now. The eBrompton project depended heavily on one supplier who has...

    Well done the ladies today

I was in London earlier today so I stopped by at the Mall to watch the girls set off. Despite the rain, it was a super atmosphere with lots of happy smiley people from all over the world lining the streets and enjoying this 'free' event. I got chatting to a lady who was stood next to me who'd...

    Chain cleaning

I used to regularly clean my chain with a chain cleaning machine and scrub away at the deraileur mechanism etc and generally keep my bike squeaky clean. Nowadays I just change the chain and cassette once a year (approx 3000 miles) and give everything a good clean at the same time. Like Oigoi...

Anyone found a comfortable saddle that doesn't look odd...!?

If anyone's interested I have a (very slightly) used Madison G14 comfort gel saddle in good condition which I no longer need. I used it for a while on old my Cytronex 7.3FX which had an extremely uncomfortable saddle. Madison Cycle Everywear | G14Z - Comfort Zone Gel D2 men's saddle Mine is...

    Are these lights legal...?

I've never come across these laser lights before, but I wrote a blog post about the use of very bright bike lights which touched briefly on the legal aspects: Is the brightest bike light best for you?

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

This thread is really taking me back about 30 years or so to a misspent youth :-) I used to spend hours tinkering with 555 timers to implement police sirens and various other noise making circuits. I'm amazed the 555 is still available after all these years!

    Harressment from Drivers?

Sorry to hear you're not having a good experience. I guess I must be lucky on my route now as most drivers (and cyclists) are pleasant and courteous - though of course every now and then I do come across the occasional idiot. One of the benefits of doing the same route at the same time every day...

Folding or flipping handlebars for hallway bike storage.

I got my n'lock stem and fitted it a couple of weeks ago. I'm happy to say it works a treat and makes our hallway seem much larger! I've done a bit of a write up here: Corridor Bike Storage – Folding Handlebars - Bike Lights Review
