    puddles and potholes

Whilst I agree in principle in practice it rather depends on the size of the other vehicle. In my part of the world most roads are single track with passing places for 2 vehicles but bikes are fair game.

Shock warning! Should we ask for Registration?

One problem I can see is which bit of the bike would be the registered part? expensive road bikes are custom made, frames purchased from one maker, chainsets from another & often more than one pair of wheels, pedals with clip and pedals without for commuting etc, the list goes on. A thought...

Put up with compromise or have a bespoke e-bike built for me?

Here is a version sold in Europe Low step through bike Balance | senior bicycle Van Raam It's marketed primarily to the disabled therefore there is always an added premium as they have a 'captive' market. The € 1245 price does not include VAT or shipping mind you disabled (myself included) don't...

Put up with compromise or have a bespoke e-bike built for me?

There is a very similar low-step through bike widely available in the USA. When I was looking for a similar design a couple of years ago there were some imports being sold on e-bay in fact they were posted (with some derision) on here. Alien were not doing the Aurora in kit version then...

    Motor & wheel size?

Thanks for the replies, i'm tempted to get one to stick on my 20" folders front wheel to match the existing 36v 250watt rear wheel & try a 2 wheel drive for myself. Hopefully I can swap an old tractor battery for a motor:D

    Motor & wheel size?

I've just discovered that a local breakers yard has a number of e bike motors, they all come off bikes that have been damaged in rear-end shunts when being carried on the back of caravans/cars etc (I'm in a popular tourist area). Most are still in the rim and undamaged, these ones are mainly...

Shock warning! Should we ask for Registration?

Flecc, I wouldn't worry, he's just been brought in to 'talk the talk' at the party conference by an inept prime-minister who cannot even re-shuffle his own government, I gather IDS refused to move. As for bike registration I would suggest that there are simply too many sitting in sheds, garages...

    Brake cut-out > 1 wire

Job done, soldered and heatshrink, looks nice and neat now. I do like the look of the 'Aliexpress' cable but i had the soldering iron to hand & I'm skint. Has anyone shortened a Cycle Analysts cables?

    Brake cut-out > 1 wire

Can anyone see a problem with joining the 2 brake cut-out wires ( by the handlebars) then only having a single wire to the controller. I'm having a manic tidying up phase :)

Shock warning! Should we ask for Registration?

Assuming registration in some form was to be introduced WHO WOULD POLICE IT? We (they) do not even police car users correctly, every day I see countless drivers using their mobiles. There are thousands of UN-taxed & unlicensed drivers on the road as it is,

    Cycling under the rain

Wow, you'd need one of the Xipi superbikes to push those fairings through a headwind, mind you with one of those fitted it would never get to 45mph ;)

    cycle carriers

We had one of those and found it was really good. I even used it to carry our old I-Zip ladies enlightened along with 2 MTBs which was pushing the weight limit. Actually sold it on eBay for more than I paid for it ;)
