    Scooter / Moped style. Legal?

When I bought my bike the dealer advised to keep feet on pedals. I discovered that if the freewheel is sticking and you don't have feet on pedals, when you let go of the throttle the rear wheel will drive the chain and pedals, and as they rotate the pedal sensor will kick the power back in again...

    Battery pack repair

That looks exactly like the slightly used battery I bought last year. The BMS supplied doesn't seem to have a balancing feature, and it wasn't quite charging to 42v and taking a very long time to do so. What I did was remove the BMS and swap it one I had from an older battery.

    Screw this!!!!

I have had the Bosch GSR (and GDR too) for over 5 years still on their original batteries. I've had no problems with them. The 10.8v reciprocating saw is quite good too.

    Scooters - blooming good value

I was looking at getting a new bike, either a pedelec or e-scooter or another contraption like mine, but for the price of a decent pedelec I bought a SYM 125cc petrol scooter. I think I get to pick it up from the dealer this weekend. The biggest rip-off was the insurance. Fully comp was out of...

    Which are you?

I did a CBT earlier. Completed it without crashing or going down, left the test centre on my ebike and within 10 minutes I was nearly killed near home by a people carrier. There was a traffic jam on the other side of the road, and this car just pulled out from a side road (the one on the right...

One law for the rich etc

Very low paid jobs though, their wages for the week are at the low end of double figures. There's even a small charge for the television too.

    Rear wheel puncture

I didn't get round to sorting it. I had some issues today with the method of pumping up the wheel before every trip. There was massive resistance in the pump pedal. I tried a handheld pump and the same thing happened. I concluded that the tube had another problem and tried to go to my LBS to get...

E scooter performance info needed urgently please

That thing clearly isn't going to give 25 miles range if fitted with 10-12ah batteries.

    Rear wheel puncture

I don't even think there were any washers between the nut and the dropout. It is about 2 years since I last had the back end apart. Where would I be able to obtain the washers from? I would also be interested in hearing what this 'fix' to keep the axle in place if the nuts fail to do so. Also...

    Rear wheel puncture

They are Schrader valves. Regarding the dropout, I can't remember if it was downwards or not but there was at least an inch available to slide it backwards and forwards. No derailleur, just a freewheel on the side of the hub. I will definitely get this sorted after the weekend. I will try and...

    Rear wheel puncture

Well I had to make a 5 mile journey earlier, the tyre was flat when I uncovered the bike but I pumped it up. Carried 12kg of shopping on the way back too. The wheel got wet and when I arrived home I noticed a faint sound of air escaping around the valve stem. The valve is not angled like the one...

    Rear wheel puncture

I've had more problems with the back tyre. It was completely flat earlier when I wanted to use the bike. I pumped it up and did about 6 miles on it. I had no issues on the several short journeys I made but I checked the tyre as I put the bike away afterwards and it had lost a small amount of...

    How unlucky am I?

At least it happened in your garage, and not miles away from home!

    Drum brakes (again!)

I've always complained about lack of adjustment on my brakes. Last weekend they stopped working completely, and I haven't found anyone to have a look at it. So earlier I decided to do it myself. I was a bit scared as I've never really taken any bike apart before, but thought I might as well as...

    Obvious pitfalls of battery replacement

Of course if I knew about e-bikes and batteries beforehand I wouldn't have paid the £200 extra for the lithium version, especially if I knew the battery would be so old. I would have got it with SLAs instead and then maybe upgrade to lithium when the SLAs declined. I will be much more careful...

    Obvious pitfalls of battery replacement

My bike came with a battery that was over 2 years old despite it being new. I found out from the serial number. Last year I bought a newish one to replace it with, it had been in storage for a year. The performance and range is now much better than the battery it replaced.

Phylion battery, how often do you need to recharge when not in use?

I've managed to swap the BMS. They both have the same connectors, the BMS I salvaged from the Phylion is ever so slightly larger, but the main difference was the multi connector (the one with 10-12 coloured thin wires) emerges at a different angle. I managed to get it all assembled again and it...

    Servo brake

My bike has that on the rear. I've had similar problems as you, the brake grabs a lot for the first few minutes of a journey. I would open mine up but there's issues with tightening the wheel nuts afterwards.
