: FOR SALE : Bafang Hub / Lyen Controller / LIPO / ALARMS / WIRING

Still about. But I now do a lot of running and cycling when the weather permits. But no longer commuting to work. Which I do miss. How are the batteries holding up these days? It pains me every time I fill up with fuel - It costs around £80 to fill up which is about the amount of battery packs...

Just thought I'd bring my thread back to life - I still hve the Rear hub Motor for sale. I'ts been living in the back of my car since I picked it up from the depot. I had to get it trued again and its ready for sale. I've not used it since I got it back. I brought a new Race bike that I play...

    Right crunch time (offroad pedelec)

Most certainly was Lynda, Really good fun. Fortunatly I managed to stay out of the camera's. I'm the muppet in a full face helmet. Thankfully there's not to much of me getting up to mischeif!

    Right crunch time (offroad pedelec)

I'd almost build something myself. Take a downhill bike and use a low wind direct drive rear hub thats 350w and whack the amps up. Could get something built for about £1000 if you buy a used bike with new motor and lipo making the build quite light and central. Although the weight being...

Removing a gear from the clutch assembly without damage???

You'd almost need to make one like a crank puller or a large chain splitter and modify it. All of which would cost more than the gear anyway. Probably just seized on there. The old metal to metal scenario.

    Security of bikes...how nickable?

Always best to use two locks as ever. Batteries I always took with me. One with the lipo and two when I had a battery that would slide out of a rack. Now I dont have electric I actually take the wheels off put frame / wheels through two locks. Left it in the middle of Birmingham for hours...

Removing a gear from the clutch assembly without damage???

Circlip pliers are the correct method really. Stops the clips flinging everywhere. You could do it with a flat blade screw driver. But there's a good chance you will loose the circlip. Doing it in a bag as neptune's said is really good advise. The amount of times i've had circlips fly...

Heat sinking a controller for passive temperature reduction?

I used to constantly run my controllers in a bag in a sepreate compartment to the batteries. So I guess there wasn't as much air flow and it did get warm @ 66v 30amp. But it always worked and never failed. I think you have to really push a high amount of amps for a long time for the heat to...

Are DC-DC converter using a lot of battery

There is a loss but it's hardly worth noting though. In the end I just used 18650 cells to make up a separate battery for my lighting as it was easier and cheaper plus less cabling for lighting. But the step downs really are quite energy efficient.

Further progress on removal of power limits

You could just run the smaller motors at a higher wattage, effectivly helping the the hill climbing for those who need it. Its only at peak draw such as climbing where its needed. Its been proven by many users that the wattage ratings of motors tend to be very safe compared to what you can...

Further progress on removal of power limits

Oh dear, if only they had some informed experience into the issues that some people undergo with the lack of power. It would be great to get a halfway house between the european laws and USA typical laws. Oh well onwards and upwards.

    Brompton electrification

The mac @40amps in a 16inch wheel will constantly wheelie. even if you put 12v into it... Still you'll get all the torque to go up a cliff with a geared motor and 16inch wheels. But your speed will take a hit due to the rpm.

    Brompton electrification

Ha brilliant. This was kind of what we all told you to a certain degree when you set out to create a mega quick mini bike capable of 30mph. It's scarey on full sized bikes with much better brakes. Let alone the smaller wheels and brakes. Glad you've kind of got there on your own terms...

    Any ideas how come?

Don't think i've ever had the Cheating comment thrown at me. Most are usually interested or glad they can draft me when I'm using it. Espcially on maintianing a speed up slight inclines. Then again I probably look a bit dodgy with Full face helmet, MTB shorts and a high vis jacket I dont...

    Brompton electrification

Realistically I personally I wouldnt bother. If its not clearly labelled on the model or controller its a risk adding those connections. The pads are also small so you need a steady hand for soldering. The con's are definetly out weighing the pro's. I know its a nice to have. But when I...

Screw Regen. Its bad for the drop outs anyway with little gain other than brake pad wear. Save regen for car's ;-)

Does this sound OK kit to buy?

I've had the opposite. In april they have been very good but prices have gone up considerably compared to last year. However thats pretty much a standard kit you can buy from a UK vendor and still get the warrenty which they supply. Up to you though. The battery is about the weakest part...

There is Regen. But you need to ground one of the pads. Think it might be X10 or X11 going from memory. I didnt have the unit very long just brought it for test purposes but the amp limit was way to high. In the end I sold it. Mega controller though. No wonder its not that stealth.
