Being given the runaround by a bike shop

Nyon controller. , no GPS
Just had this retro fitted to my Cube Hybrid 160 , does the module have to be attached to the bike ( and powered )for the GPS Navigation to be active ? Ive not attached it yet for a ride . the unit is currently showing the satellite logo with a line through it . I cant attach the unit till mid...- Exige260

5th light flashing ( brake fault)
