    Full Throttle ebike legal again!

When I lived in Belgium from 97 to 02 there were lots of bikes with petrol motors, I even bought one for my wife who wasn't a strong cyclist. These bikes did in fact have a throttle and people did not seem to pedal much, if at all. So I would have thought a throttle on an electric bike would...

    Disappointed in Scott

"you have that little tail on the Yamaha's graph at the top of the rpm range. That defies all the laws of physics. The graph can only descend steeper, not slope back" Are we looking at the same graph? Can't see your point. The Bosch graph could be zero at 120 or it could tail off gradually -...

    Disappointed in Scott

Maximum cadence with drive support is 120rpm - thats for the Bosch performance line. https://www.bosch-ebike.com/en/components/drive-unit/ I would expect the power to decrease after 120 which is what the graph indicates.

Rohloff Speed 14 hub gearbox with Bafang BBS mid-motor: installation and use

Well, I do treat my bafang motor gently as you correctly surmise. It doesn't feel as robust as the Bosch motor. The point about the rotation sensor is that it is just a switch, nothing sophisticated, either on or off. With my system, once a particular speed has been reached, depending on the...

Rohloff Speed 14 hub gearbox with Bafang BBS mid-motor: installation and use

My BBS02 750 works perfectly with my Shimano 8 speed hub and I don't think that the hub gear is unduly stressed. There is no pseudo torque sensor, just a rotation sensor that works very well. With my Bosch bike I always have to put in a certain amount of effort, with the Bafang I can pedal hard...

Bike options for a fat bloke?

    Seems to be some confusion and misinformation about Li-Ion batteries. I find the following table helpful. 4.2 volts 100% 4.1 about 90% 4.0 about 80% 3.9 about 60% 3.8 about 40% 3.7 about 20% 3.6 empty for practical purposes <3.5 = over-discharged

About to buy BBS02 750w kit

Maybe yours is set up differently to mine, but I can pedal as hard as I want to. I just have to select the gear and power level to give me the cadence and effort that I prefer. The motor gets up to speed and then I can add effort to decrease the power consumption or just have an easy ride. Just...

About to buy BBS02 750w kit

Ride it like an ordinary bike where you wouldn't use the 11t sprocket much. On level 1 (of 9) the assistance soon drops off in the lower gears as your speed increases and you can pedal as hard as you like. I like to ride at about 15 - 18mph and pedal reasonably hard. Only on steep hills (20%) do...

Unfit, overweight, bad knees, no hair but own teeth!

Same motor, driving through a low gear means it'll climb anything. Loads of torque at low speeds.

Unfit, overweight, bad knees, no hair but own teeth!

d8veh is spot on, my 750 will climb any any hill I've come across without pedaling. There are some very steep hills around here.

Just ordered a 750w BBS02, my first electric bike !

"the two extra cells over the 12s setup really do make quite a bit of difference to the speed and acceleration of the whole setup" I'm not surprised, that's over 1400 watts of power at 25amps. I've got a 12S pack and am very careful not to put too much power through the transmission. With 14S...

About to buy BBS02 750w kit

I've got the 750 motor and the 11 amp hour battery, both from eclipse. Last week I bought 2 16 amp hour 10C batteries from Hobbyking. In series that gives me enough voltage and plenty of current. More than the eclipse battery and I can not detect any difference at all in the performance. Of...

Right kit for Boardman Hybrid Team and 33 mile round hilly commute

"BBS has built in pas and it is proportional to the effort you put in whilst pedalling so a more sportier ride and near normal cycling experience" That describes the Bosch motor, but not the Bafang. There is no torque sensing, you just need to rotate the pedals - at least, that's what happens...

Review of my Bafang BBS02 500W/36V kit

I sorted out my chain line by using a Nexus 8 hub gear. 750watt motor gives me something between my cube/bosch and my Honda 500.

How does battery voltage relate to capacity remaining?

My Bosch control system seems to be reasonably accurate, the algorithm must be quite sophisticated to predict the remaining mileage which is pretty much spot on.
