30 mile each way commute, which bike is best?

Look at your route. Can you maintain high speed on a bike over a good part of that route?

An example:
There is a new 2 km section of cycle path linking a village to the town here and that village has cheaper rent than where I am now so I looked at it very closely. However I couldn't use the trike to commute on that path - too narrow in many places. Even on the upright it is dangerous to do much over 10-15 km/h so that cycle path would be the slowest part of the ride.

Have you considered a second hand vélomobile? That is the easiest, most comfortable way to legally do 45 km at speed for a reasonable price (>2000€). Depending on the nature of the road just over an hour is on the cards. Hilly? Add a legal 25 km/h assist so 25 km/h up hills and 90 km/h down the other side. Oops make that 80 km/h here, the speed limit just changed :D
