the sakura bikes we have came with 36 volt 7ah batteries the instruction book states they are also available with 48 volt 7ah(there is enough space in the case for the other battery) what if any would be the advantage of 48volt.
the second question if when the next battery replacement comes round could they be replaced with 36volt 15ah and what could i expect to gain from this( i could fit 3 12volt 15ah in the case)many thanks mike.

The 48 volts would potentially give that proportional gain in speed Mike, 33%, making it very fast, but a new controller is normally needed as well, the present one could blow on 48 volts.

In the second case of the 15 Ah batteries, you'd get exactly that proportional increase in range, 114%. There can sometimes also be a small gain in performance with larger capacity batteries since they are delivering more within the available capacity.
