Big Bear maintenance

Time for some new season maintenance on the wife's bike. As the chain guard is cracked, and she's always said it's slightly under geared, I thought it was time for a new crank set.
Existing ring is 44 teeth and seems permanantly fitted to the crank. Can't seem to find a 46t single ring crank set - anyone got any ideas?
Also need a chainguard. Again the only ones I can find are for double or triple rings. There was a thread some time ago where someone linked to a really smart copper coloured one. Anyone remember that?

Chainguards are often for 38 or 42 tooth chainwheels...

Change the rear freewheel to a DNP one with 11T top gear. You can get them from Aliexpress, or I think I heard that Woosh stock them.

The rear set has a surprising 15t top cog, so that might be an idea if the chain ring doesn't fully satisfy.

So I've ordered a 46t ring. The current cassete is a 15/28. This is what it looks like in 1st gear with the 44t ring ;

Do you think it will take this 12/32 without overstraining in 1st?

This would give the better cadence in top gear but still give her the hill climbing she needs.
