Lifted this comment from Canary. It was in response to the slanted link.

" "Thereas May became involved in 2014 when, as Home Secretary, she refused to take legal responsibility for the families."

So what happened between 1998 and 2014?

Jack Straw, David Blunkett, Charles Clarke, John Reid, Jacquui Smith and Alan Johnson were all Home Secretary before Theresa May in 2010.

How odd there is no mention of them refusing to take responibility.

I,m fairly sure there are some Labour in there..."

And reply was from a Canary supporter/ contributor..

I assume folk have heard news from Egypt. 45 Christians shot for being christians. Where is this going to finish ?
With John Wayne fixing it for the old fools ;)

You still havent read the article properly have you?
"In 1998, 75 people (including children) were washed up on the British Sovereign Base Areas (SBA) in Cyprus, after their boat got into difficulty off the coast. Initially detained for some months, they were granted refugee status under the 1951 Refugee Convention.

The answer is that they DID take responsibility, but then you only see what you want to, don't you?

This morning in the Telegraph
"
ExclusiveManchester suicide bomber used student loan and benefits to fund terror plot"

Isn't that a great reason to stop Student loans and Benefits?
of course it isn't so you have to ask what was the Propaganda value of this true but utterly irrelevent news?
Just what implication is being aimed at the public consciousness?
And the Mail coers it as well and reveals it is actually only conecture after all
"Salman Abedi may have funded his terror attack on the Manchester Arena with a student loan, paid for by the taxpayer, after enrolling in a course at Salford University and receiving £7,000.,

May have.............good enough for propaganda purposes .........good old FAKE news

Quite correct OG and it's nice to see you have spelled the fourth from last word correctly.

Tom
I ignored his comments about toeing, if there is a pornographic connotation, I wouldn't be aware of it anyway, and I felt an ex teacher should understand English better really.

It will be interesting to see how the Conservatives make this Manchester Tragedy into somehow proof that only they can protect us from a repeat when they are "uncovering" all sorts of terror networks and plots after a relatively short interval.
Why is no one asking why did the tragedy have to occur if they already had the capability to do this all along?
Was this simply because it is cheaper to do nothing, or has there been another failure of the Government to make use of the information it already had?
And once back in power, how long before they cut costs and protection levels again?
After all that is exactly what has happened after previous atrocities, isn't it?

What a country, Cameras spy on us, our movements are tracked, communications monitored, the authorities even appear to know who the villains are, and what happens.
Action is taken too late after innocent people are killed, and the Government is in denial about the truth that our foreign wars of aggression fuel the rise of extremism.

The Conservatives have nothing to offer to the people but the following

Blood toil, tears and sweat, surveillance that gives them no protection whatsoever., no better than a cardboard suit of armour.
And the illusion that a vote for them is somehow "Patriotic"

But to the Elite

A quick profit from the suckers who vote for them, with favourable Tax perks, and an increasingly poor and pliant population they can exploit at leisure.

Its actually " toe the line" as in starting a race...or " tow the line"as in nautical term.

Verbalising toe into toeing is wrong and means something completely different to OG's assumption. Its a slang term at best.

Do stop digging, the water is coming in
the expression toeing has been in use for many years, for example.

That endows him with significant business gravitas
along with a certain
freedom from toeing the party line.

Reminds me of the cold war nuclear fears advice from the Home Office. To protect against blindness cause by the intense brilliance of the nuclear explosion flash, they advised we should have a stout brown paper bag to hand that could be placed over one's head.

No realisation of the fact that the flash (speed of light) would reach us before the sound of the explosion (speed of sound), so we'd have no indication a flash was imminent. Or that many in line of sight would have the flesh stripped from their skeletons by the blast within a second or so.

OG, when some apparently reasonably normal person decides to engage in a battle of wits while only half-prepared for such a contest, if you rise to such an unequal challenge, it could be construed as bullying.

That consideration could be viewed even more seriously when the challenger is an internet troll whom no-one but no-one considers intellectually adequate for engagement with real people on planet Earth.

I know it's difficult having to tolerate the ramblings of complete imbeciles but try to remember the old mock-Latin adage, expressed in several different ways and much abused generally but so meaningful nevertheless:

Noli illegitimi carborundum

'Brexit', and every other bad thing which has happened to this country over the last 38 years, has come from tory governments which have ruled without exception since 1979 - obviously, I include the sham 'New Labour' -denominated 'pink tory' group at the helm between 1997 and 2010.

All the things that the British people could take pride in, created out of the bankrupt mess which existed after WW2, were given for free or sold way beneath any kind of perceived market value to the rich friends, donors and supporters of the tory party - the political group which looks after the interests of the aristocracy, monarchy and big business....all with taxpayers' money.

Ken Loach probably describes better than I ever could in a few short words why we are where we are today:

No , but I love winding Tom up..
The phrase is actually
" Illegitimi non carborundum"
Not the rubbish you quoted Tom...
But sentiments are sound..as opposed to Canary, which is junk.

I really can't see why OG and oldtom should have a go at spelling mistakes.
It's not as if they never make some.

Actually it was zlatan that was complaining that I had made a spelling error in the use of the word toeing!
Ah! Such a fickle fate.

As usual Woosh, you miss the point. It has nothing to do with spelling mistakes but don't let it concern you - just put it down to one of those strange things that some English do that French people don't quite get.

you see? everyone can make the occasional spelling/grammatical mistakes.

BTW, I like 'toeing' better.
I should keep your sexual proclivities to yourself but perhaps your'e advertising?

That aside, you draw attention, not to a spelling error but rather, to a mis-use of the apostrophe. Just make sure not to mention it to D8veh as mis-used apostrophes are one of the things that really bug him.
