Cheap charger

Been looking at the gophert power supply as a charger (recommended by d8veh in another thread), but need a cheap charger to leave at work. All the cheap Chinese ones I’ve been looking at seem to be for balance board thingies, and have a 3 pin charge plug. What’s the extra pin for, and will the charger still work if you don’t use the extra pin?

Only 2 pins are used. Cut the connect off and put your own one on, which you can buy from Ebay. Be aware that you cannot go by the colours of the wires. you must check with a meter. On some brown is positive, but on others, it's negative, so be careful.
