Got myself a cheap pair of clipless shoes, now it's time to choose a good budget set of pedels. Never used any before so looking for recommendations.

I have had a few different ones but ended up using budget shimano pedals.. whatever is on special offer at the time. Although I am thinking of putting flats on for the winter because when I went down on black ice last week it might have made a difference.

I've had several differing sets over the years, and like Gubbins, each bought when on special offer.

Currently I have a set of these https://www.decathlon.co.uk/pd-m520-spd-clipless-mountain-bike-pedals-id_3169982.html?_cclid=v3_f9c193cd-8170-5b73-a086-62c147f65f59&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7LiQ4eeM2AIVjrXtCh38xQihEAQYASABEgKbxfD_BwE Shimano SPD 520's on the eMTB, and a set of Shimano XT pedals on the pedal mtb. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-deore-xt-m8000-spd-xc-race-pedals/?lang=en&curr=GBP&dest=1&sku=5360710330&kpid=5360710330&utm_source=google&utm_term&utm_campaign=UK_PLA_Components&utm_medium=base&utm_content=mckv|sRs1iTwzL_dc|mcrid|67090789262|mkw||mmt||mrd|5360710330uk|mslid||&mkwid=sRs1iTwzL_dc&pcrid=67090789262&prd=5360710330uk&pgrid=17507338262&ptaid=pla-121252364462

The XT are obviously the better of the two, and less chunky, but I have yet to wear the cheapo version out, and the non removable bearings are never going to prove to be an issue, as they just seem to keep performing as good as new.

The XT pedals just happened to be on offer, and I bought them based more upon looks than weight or performance gain.

Both can be seen here.

Time pedals for me.

Tried and used virtually every type of clipless pedal over the years.

Plenty of knee friendly lateral float in the Times.

Well I've ordered some Shimano m530 for £20. Got the shoes for £15 so will be a nice cheap trial to see if I get on with them.

if you mean changing the peddles over it takes 2 mins with a Alan key or if you mean how are the clips then i dont tend to notice them much and can clip in and out easy if my lases are tied up lol.

just if i need to fly up the road and back can use the non clip side.

I am going down the SPD route when I can afford to. I have more confidence and am spinning out on the trike sometimes literally spinning out of the pedal toe clip... I also need a cadence meter...

I think I might buy the KT LCD-6: vertical screen and cadence meter so uses the PAS to give cadence.
