Just phoned my Insurance company (Direct Line) to add the new ebike to the house policy. Bearing in mind the bike cost £2399, they have charged an extra £9.90 per month to add the one ebike to the insurance.

Question is do others insure their bikes, if so how, through the house insurance or seperate insurance.

Really only want it covered for theft and the likes, if I come off and damage it I will pay to have it repaired myself.

Or are we just getting screwed by the insurance companies because they have taken a hit with all the hurricane damage etc going on.

Yes I know if you can afford it, you can afford to insure it...

Not insured, my usual mantra is if you can afford the risk then why throw money away. I do however have personal liability insurance via my home insurance, I can't afford the consequences of killing someone.

Same here but my public liability insurance comes with my British Cycleing membership,

My public liability insurance is extended to "everywhere" as well as theft insurance instead of just at home. I can't afford to lose 2500 €. 6.67 € a month seems a small price to pay for 2 bikes worth over 3500 € to replace, they are my only means of transport.

My home insurance provider won't add an ebike to my policy, they say they don't cover them.

I have 4 bikes in shed 3 of them are £500 in value. The fourth is valued at £3800. My insurance went up £4.00 per month. The original policy covers bikes up to £500 and the extra covers my Lapierre MTB it also covers it away from home if it is stolen, providing it is locked.

They want £150 to cover my ebike. For that money I could afford to pay the admin fee to cancel my current house insurance policy, switch to a new provider, upgrade my policy and have my contents & ebike covered for fully accidental, and when away from home.
Admin fee to cancel? That is illegal in the EU

My house insurance wouldn't do it either, but they cover the 2 other bikes worth less than £500.
Assetsure...... £27 a month for both bikes and everything, helmets, clothing, gadgets, away from home, public liability, etc... seems reasonable to me.
