Folding E-Bikes in Edinburgh

Hi there!

Literally just joined Pedelecs, and am keen to learn more about the capabilities of folding electric bikes, for commuting within city centre limits.

I live in Edinburgh, and would like to know which folding electric bike is most suitable for tackling the cities steepest inclines for under £1600?

It is a full sus bikes that can fold. It is also an excellent hill climber.
Battery is 36V 12AH, range is about 35-45 miles depending on how much you pedal.

Ok, because I thought above bike looked maybe a little big for that but what do I know, have never tried a folding bike.

But my girlfriend is actually aiming for just a such! For carrying on our tram and such also. She is looking at the Ecoride Flexible (swedish brand), looks like this:

Personally I thought I would need one if she buy one so I have ordered a push bike, Brompton! that one is quite small folded. The seller said to me that they will come with an electric version for next year! Could be something! (but expensive!)

Check carefully before you buy, if you do want one you can whip on and off buses, trains etc. - "folding" does not neccessarily mean particularly portable / easy to carry. Many folding bikes (including mine) don't fold up that small and weigh quite a lot - the folding aspect is just useful for storage at home or work.

That's very true, that is why I did not recommend the folding Gale to be taken into trains or buses because it's awkward to lift.
If you can lift it easily then you can carry it also easily.
Hatti can easily lift up the Gallego and carries it even up a few steps.
The difference in weight between an 18kg Gallego and a 21kg Zephyr is obvious when you pick them up but it's not difficult to carry them like you would with the Gale.
Channel 5 'The gadget show' took the Gallego into London underground.

Hi everyone!

I really need your help, to decide which folding bike to buy. I don't want to spend too much, if it's not necessary.

Taking into account the topography of Edinburgh and the occasional high winds, which bike from the following 5, would be best to choose?

(I'm really unsure, as to how much money to spend. If necessary, I'll spend closer to the price of the Wisper, IF, it makes a considerable difference when cycling around Edinburgh in particular. I personally think that it's the most unattractive bike out of all of them. If you say that the cyclotricity is just as good, or at least close enough, in terms of performance, for getting up hills as the volt for example, then I'll go for that.)

Hard to answer out of that selection as it's down to personal choice, but if it were me, it'd be the Wisper I'd go for.

You will certainly find the Wisper Torque superb for hill climbing and the recent addition of disc brakes front and rear will ensure safe stopping distances and eliminate brake fade on longer hills.

Equally importantly you can get your bike regularly serviced and maintained by a local Wisper expert.

Hi everyone!

I still haven't chosen a bike yet, but will do shortly.

My first choice, was the Woosh Gallego. However, because it wasn't and still isn't practical for me to pay the full amount for the bike in one go, I was looking for a 12 month finance plan, which Woosh (at the moment) aren't able to offer. Regardless of that, I think that they have a great selection at great prices!
