Well I've ordered the hardtail with 500wh battery, CX motor and 11 speed shimano transmission for £1380. Seems like a good price to me...

Well funnily enough, none of the Diamondback ones are in stock now - they are all sold out until March - order cancelled :-(

Back to the drawing board!

The prices on all the linked bikes went up to a more realistic £2k+ while I was looking.

Seems someone in internet marketing at Damian Harris made a boo-boo.

My guess is the £1,340 was for the equivalent push bike.

Quite - if this was a mistake (as I suspect) I wish the guy on the phone had just been straight with me - he told me it was a special offer and they had sold out of them all (2017 model!). Tried to sell me a cube with 400wh battery at 1699.

I've read mixed reports about Damian Harris.

They seem to list every bike on their website, but trying to work out what they have in stock, or at least can get within a week or two, is all but impossible.

Some of the prices look keen, but I'm sure the Cube Centre near me had 400wh mountain bikes for under £2k, although still maybe a hundred or so more than Damian Harris.

On t'other hand, I was told there would be a tiny bit of movement on the 500wh bikes I was looking at, so the circle would be all but squared, or rather cubed in this case.

Another thought on the Diamond Back prices.

I would expect Damian Harris to have a margin of around 30 or 40 per cent - best part of £1k.

That discount was roughly equivalent to the posted prices, so another possibility is someone at Damian Harris managed to post their invoice price as retail.
