Can anyone offer experiences with the Heinzmann synthetic gears please.
I have a Heinzman 53Nm steel geared rear hub motor, first fitted for 1000miles on my Swissbike Lx, and now on my trike[900miles].

I am buying a new lighter folding tike with a 20" wheel instead of the 26" with my hub, so will be changing to a new Heinzmann hub, there are two choices, one steel the other synthetic geared...so which one to go for?

my hub53Nm 14.9mph 15% in a 26" wheel, 11.6mph/20% in 20"

steel37.6Nm 15.9mph 13%

synthetic35.9 16.4mph 12.5%

Well for those who may have an interest, the advice I have received re the gears, is that the synthetic are ok for applications upto 125kg and steel for heavier loads.

My new trike will be 17kg, hub kit 7kg, me 78kg, trailer trike 14kg, daughter 16kg...so steel gears it will be.

Wise choice, the steel gear is a bit noisier but won't fail, while the nylon ones in hub motors can fail at lower loadings if neglected and running dry.
