Increasing power?

I've got a Whoosh Zephyr B bike, my question is, is it possible to alter the power to increase the speed when off road? I've read somewhere you can do this through the controller, is it true, is it wise, is it possible?
thanks for any help or advice.

Peter.

See the following thread for advice:

or search "Soldering the shunt" -- this is to increase power off the mark, ie torque.

If you want more speed, then it gets more complicated. Speed is a combination of higher volts (battery), and the watts supplied by your controller. Some controllers can by programmed to supply more volts to the motor. You would also have a question on the absolute capacity of the motor, too much volts could leave you without a motor. Ditto too much current drawn from your battery. Bewarned.

Generally speaking, if your controller isn't restricted, ie limiting you to 250w so you to lift that derestriction for off-road, you would have to replace your controller with a higher wattage unit, and then pray your motor can take the extra juice. ;) Bewarned.

don't ever do that on a woosh bike, you'll kill the controller.

What Peter wants to do is to set his own speed limit on the LCD. I don't condone it but he can read the manual how to do this himself. The LCD is a King Meter J-LCD.
