Never ever insured any bike I have owned, as most bikes I ever owned were usually used bikes. Since we have just spent around £3250 on two new E Bikes,it's probably best we get some sort of insurance, I am not sure if our house contents insurance will cover them, have a feeilng they only cover cheaper bikes, will phone them after bank holiday. Quick look on line was a real eye opener, looking at £130 for each bike, to me this looks excessive, considering my comprehensive car insurance is only £220. Any recommendations for insurance company, Compare the market etc don't do search for bikes.

I added one of my bikes to our household insurance. However, on reading the small print, many household insurance companies specifically exclude 'assisted' or 'motorised' bikes in their Pedal Cycle section so I chose a company specifically on the basis of one which would insure electric bikes. It cost about £30 but would have cost about £130, as you discovered, to insure it on a Cycle insurance policy.

I've not found anything less than £119 after much searching online tonight. Our Home contents do it £500 cover standard. They need more details for dearer biles. Frame number ? Maunufactor and model, type of bike and cost etc. Not sure we're frame number is,will give bike good look over tomorrow. Such a rip off, only want to cover bike against theft or damage, dont need or want accessories cover, public liability, etc. Its easier to insure a car. Grrrrrrrr
