Up next my daughters ladies Dutch style bike. Fixed gear but got a great 36v motor on the back with a load of torque. Bike was originally a T&DI. Had new brake levers, SLA batteries, new controller and throttle, tyres and tubes. Complete with daisy stickers! Runs great just heavy. Would be an ideal starter e-bike for a partner etc. £150 and it's yours. Collection from Bradford West Yorkshire.

Hey, what's the weight of the bike?

And also dimension if I arrange courier to collect is it ok?

And what's the range and expected speed? Is it ok for this bike to be parked outside the whole night? I suppose thieves wouldn't want to steal that?? :D

I should be able to take the battery out and charge it home?

Thanks

It's going to be heavy! The battery is made up of 3 11ah 12v SLA batteries, so thats 12Kg just in the battery. Never measured the speed but my daughter always kept up with me on it and we've done over 15 miles in one run. You could fill that huge battery case up with lipo if you wanted. Battery is removable, not sure if you want to leave it outside in British weather as there's a lot of steel here. Motor is a 36v 250w brushed one.

I'll have to measure it for courier, so give me a day. You'd be using a proper bike courier? i.e. not just a box shifter/crusher.

yeah the thing i like about this bike is that it look so cheap that I can probably park it outside without too much fear of it being stolen.

I'd use waterproof spray all around the bike. I'd start to commute few time with the bike and leave it outside overnight outside for a month to see if thieves are interested.

Then if they are not interested, I'd upgrade the motor, the battery, the tyre, the fork... pretty much everything apart from the visual bad appearance of the bike.

Is it possible to have the size of each of the 11ah SLA battery? I'd replace all of this with 18650 cells. And just check if it's easy to remove the battery case (I'd do that every night)

I'd use the cheapest courier I could find. Probably Parcelforce they charge something like £30 for a collect and deliver.

battery wise they are:

Length151 mm
Width98 mm
Height inc. terminals100 mm

I wouldn't use Parcel Force for a bike ever, not unless you want it as a kit!

D8evh knows a specialist bike courier, I can't remember their name who aren't much more expensive than PF and would look after the bike.

I gather you don't drive or have anyone venturing up north?

Battery case is easy to remove and can be locked into the frame. Motor isn't bad either, got a load of torque, just a single speed cog though.

Thanks for these dimensions. I can fill up the box with 100 18650 cells. That would give me a nice ebike with 1000wh capacity... if thieves are not interested the bike overnight ahah.

I've been using parcel force few time before. They are ok. And as it's a steel bike I think it should be ok. The only thing I fear would be for the wheels.

I don't drive and live temporarily in the UK now. Just tell me the bike size and weight so I can book a parcelforce collection from your place.

can't you just put it in a bag? I'd just put 40kg to parcel force I think

Bike length of maybe 160cm? 70cm height? 30cm large? Going to check with parcelforce calculator

Paisley freight was the one I was thinking of. Cycle shop give free cardboard? Yeah right, my LBS has such a turnaround of bikes they don't have space to keep a crisp packet! But I'll ask them.

any size cardboard should be fine. The bike just has to look packaged in a box for the courier to accept it

thanks again

Didn't have a box at my LBS so I'm going to Halfords tomorrow. Im away from Friday to Monday (cycling) but if CWAh wants to get things underway i.e. how to pay etc. then this should be boxed up and ready to collect for Wednesday when its the wife's day off and she'll be home all day.

Yes thanks Paul. Tell me your paypal I'll send the total to you.

I may wait a bit before shipping because I'm not looking for a new work contract and I may move... I hope I'll stay in london but I never know

I don't really do Paypal for stuff like this, I've sold stuff in the past and had people claim it didn't arrive or it wasn't right then sent me a box full of scrap parts instead of the bike. Then 6 months later I get paid,a s paypal tends to side with the seller. So bank transfer would be better.

Ok, what's your sort code? Also, can you tell me you've got the cardboard sorted?

Thanks

If people send money by Paypal as a gift, there's no returns and no charges. It's the same as if they paid cash. When you send money by Paypal you tick whether the money is for goods/services or for family and friends. If you tick goods, Paypal charge the seller a percentage and protect the buyer.

I haven't got the bike wrapped up yet as I have a full time job and only get 30 minutes break and plus I ride to work. I'm in my car tomorrow. Thought you weren't in any rush and didn't want it shipped yet as you may move?
