LCD3 P1 Parameter

P1 Motor Characteristic Parameter Setting Mode
P1 = motor gear reduction ratio × number of rotor magnet pieces

Any ideas what this setting 'actually' does?
It appears to affect the speed cutoff setting. My P1 was defaulted to 215 and the speed cutoff had to be at 38kph to actually cutoff at 25kph which I never give a second thought to BUT now with a bit of finetuning the P1 setting to 96 I now set speed cutoff at 25kph to cut off near enough actual 25kph.
Result.

My motor has 20magnets around the edge as in the photo.
Is the 20 magnets figure as seen in the photo the magnet pieces number I use in the above formula?
Which means my motor has a reduction ration of about 5
It's an MXUS XF07CST motor.

Motor reduction gear ratio x 20 = the P1 setting required, So 5:1 x 20 = 100 .
I found on my Q128c it affected how smoothly the hub would run under pas, the power applied faltered a little and at times was a bit lack lustre until I tried a few different settings and settled on 208.
Default was 87.

I tinkered with mine, forgot the number, but my GSM is less noisy than with the default setting of 215.

It definitely affects how smooth the motor runs, but I don't know how.

Under throttle control motor is smooth using any setting, it only appears to affect pas use.

I was thinking today that if it makes the motor smoother then it may be a timing thing i.e 96 milliseconds between electric pulses or between phases or hall sensor powering? but I don't know enough about how the motor phase thing all works or why that would affect the speed cutoff
