Decided I need a road bike to go with my EMTB. I've had good service from Merida and from Kirkcowan Cycles where I've bought most of my bikes over the last 10 years so they always get first option on anything I need cycle related. I wanted a flat barred racer style bike and Shimano e8010 battery so I could share it with my MTB. Merida do a range of commuter bikes with the 6000 steps motor but with the 8010 battery that with a few mods would fit the bill.

We removed the rack, guards, lights, lock. Swapped out the suspension forks, bars, tyres and added my worn in Brooks saddle which in total shaved off just under 5kg. Ok not a lot in the ebike world but enough to make it feel lighter and pick up/carry speed a little better.

I'm impressed with the range, I'm 105kg, below knee amputee on one side, average elevation is approx 9m per km, average speed approx 23kmh. Eco on the flat, normal and the climbs. 62 km with 33% battery remaining.
