I would consider buying my next e-bike from Germany. I already purchase many things direct from Germany over internet as well as China.
Even with the poor current exchange rates, my German business partner lives in Hamburg and we were comparing 2017 prices buying in UK vs Germany. I was looking at bikes around 5k, and in general there was an average of around £500 saving.
I'm lucky in that I can buy the bike and he will bring it to me next trip, but as we often find the UK is still a rip off, whether it be UK marketing, retail percentage or local taxes.
This is just what I have found, not going into specifics or arguing what you do.
