Hi looking at fitting a Befang mid drive to an old 90's Marin Palisade trail to commute in to work over the summer months. I'm waiting for delivery of some tools to remove my cranks, bottom bracket and measure before i order. I know its 68mm wide but unsure what bottom bracket is fitted.
Anyway commute is 10 mile each way, not particularly hilly I am 75KG ringing wet and debating to go standard 250w or increase to 350w paired with a 36volt 12 ah battery.
Not ridden an electric bike in over 12 year so have no idea about performance of either motor. Any particular thoughts??????

The 250w and 350w motors are identical, so get a 250w one. You can adjust the current with the Bafang programming cable that you can buy from Ebay.

Ah cheers, I take it if I alter the current with the lead the motor wont prematurely fail.
next question is battery, this seems fairly good value?
any advice Ive seen similar batteries £100 more, is it better policy to pay more for better quality batteries ?

After stripping down the cranks to take some measurements I have a bottom bracket of 68mm width and 35mm internal diameter see attached photos. would a Bafang 250 watt motor fit straight in to this?
Was a chore getting the drive side out extension bar and impact driver failed! bolting the socket in place and a scafold tube worked a treat.IMG_0978.JPG IMG_0979.JPG IMG_0982.JPG IMG_0978.JPG IMG_0979.JPG IMG_0982.JPG

BBS will fit, though you have to check internal BB clearance as sometimes there may be some welds that need filing /grinding back a mm or two. Often you won't know if any weld material is in need of removal until you fit the BBS.

That battery will most probably be pants, bms is only 12a rated so cells are likely poor ones though the spec says Samsung but no other details.
With only a 12a rated bms and 15a peak rating the cells obviously aren't up to much when it comes to discharging.
For the BBS01 15 or 18a one you will need a battery that is capable of 20 or 25a continuous output.

Right I'm ready to order the the 250 watt Bafang paired with the battery in the link you shared. Couple of questons what is a gear shift sensor and do I need one and what is the difference between the C961 and C965 LCD?
Cheers in advance :)

Gear shift sensor is useful but most people don't bother with a gear shift sensor, you quickly get used to slow down your cadence, shift and pick up again. With gear shift sensor, you don't have to slow down your cadence.
